Who would be the best SG? Kobe, Wade, or 35-year old MJ?

I'd go 06 Kobe.

Wasn't 2006 the year that the hand-checking ban kicked in, so everyone and their mother saw massive stat increases?

Yup

That was the year...

Otoh, 1998 was part of a peak period for defenses - DRTG's were only 102-105 from 98-04', and that's what inspired the hand-check ban that allowed better stats for 06' Kobe, Nash, Arenas, Wade, etc

So it's hard to say... :confusedshrug:... 98' MJ probably averages 33-35 without hand-checking and better spacing in 2006, so I still go with MJ .. Plus he had 5 rings as "the man", versus zero for Kobe and Wade to that point.. so 98' MJ had all the tricks, swagger, respect from peers and overall bossiness over 06' Kobe and Wade

And he could still make plays that they couldn't, like that poster over Ostertag in tight halfcourt traffic

Hmm true.

Good post with quality context.

98 Mike lost his hops, and some of his motor. But he still had like 90 - 95 of his explosion off the dribble or triple threat quickness. So he
