View Full Version : MJ on Steph Curry - "He's still a great player. Not a Hall of Famer yet"

Jordan was asked by Melvin if he would amend the list of players he said would be unbeatable in a pickup game in a promotion for NBA 2K14 back in 2013. At the time, Jordan picked Hakeem Olajuwon, Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen, and James Worthy. The NBA legend said that he wouldn't change the lineup even though six years had passed since he made the list. "When I'm going in the trenches, I played against and with all these guys. I'm going with who I know," Jordan said.

Melvin replied: "So, Steph Curry shouldn't be offended when he watches this."

And then Jordan said this of the Golden State Warriors star and three-time NBA champion: "I hope not. He's still a great player. Not a Hall of Famer yet though."

Damn MJ :biggums:

Steph Curry is literally better than every one Jordan faced in the playoffs from 96-98(outside of shaq) combined. :oldlol:

do i need to post that youtube link of _Or_an losing to an investment banker again?

matter fact, insert picture of jordan sizing up a high school gymnastics coach on the left baseline (his comp during the 90s)

:lol Steph Curry could never pick up a basketball again and he'd still be a HoFer. Jordan never has been the best evaluator of talent though.

Not sure why MJ's paranoid about his all time status.... Steph has no chance of making top 5 all time.

Players seem to rank Westbrook higher than Steph. Maybe because he grew up rich, shoots long range bombs nobody else can make consistently, is a bit of a frontrunner.... I don't know.

Saying he isn't a HOF player is straight trolling.

Then again given MJ's record of player evaluation maybe he actually believes that. Morrison at 3? MKG at 2?

No he's not. He's not better than Karl Malone. Malone had better stats and would of won just as many chips if he had another all star or two. Currys been very lucky to have 3 to 4 all stars most of his career. Let's see what he does this year when he only has one other all star like Malone. I bet he dosnt make the playoffs.

That said. Mj is tripping he's definitely a hof

in his great and unmatched wisdom, the goat has spoken.

all we can do is accept his decree.

even if we do not agree.

i'll be praying that his airness lets steph into the hall one day.

I respect MJ's opinion, but how is Curry not a Hall of Famer yet?

Curry changed the game with his shooting
Has 3 pt records
won a title as the main guy
2 more as a main cog/arguable best player
A main part of the team with the best record in NBA history
A main part of Warrior dynasty 3 titles in 4 years

If James Worthy is in the HOF, Steph Curry could retire TODAY and be deserving of being in the HOF. With room to spare.

Magic a few years ago said Curry is no Isiah.

Athletes don't have a clue when judging another athlete's worth in totality. Certain facet(s) of their game? OK, I'll hear 'em out. Anything else? An educated fan is comfortably more knowledgeable than they are.

What? :oldlol: Of course he's factually not a HoFer yet, he's a current ****ing player in the league... he's not eligible to be in the Hall. Why on earth would Jordan point out such a pointless detail?

Jordan is actually a big fan of Steph. It's just that he's not a hall of famer, yet. Thus he does not qualify to be on his personal all time team.
