Kobe was never a top 10 player all time at any point in the NBA history. Before he was sitting at #11 and then Lebron passed him and dropped to #12. But if Lebron never existed, Kobe would've still been #11 at best. In fact, assuming Lebron indeed never existed, Curry would've won in 2016 and surpassed Kobe anyway. With this in mind, Kobe at #12 is written in the stars, the consensus 12th greatest player of all time.

That team matched up poorly against the Lakers ‘Cause no one could stop Shaq. We were triple-teaming Shaq and put only one defender on Kobe, and yet Shaq outclassed every player and won FMVP. Though we would have won in 2002 had the Kings made it to the NBA finals, we would beat them in 6. The only chance for us against the Lakers was Shaq getting suspended somehow, he just couldn’t be stopped.
