Is he on the level of peak Jordan? Will he surpass him all time? Discuss. :confusedshrug:

He is good. Watching him feels like watching a slower version of Mike. I am really impressed with his development since he was drafted.

Kawhi shot 46% from midrange on 331 attempts last season.

MJ shot 49% from midrange 1200 attempts in 1996.

Kawhi shot 47% in the paint on 188 attempts last season.

MJ shot 51% in the paint on 186 attemps in 1996.

Imagine him with a shortened three point line, be like shooting layups.

Preach brotha preach.. people forget that kawhi should be averaging way more in this defensive environment

Kawhi does nothing better than MJ, including shooting... Kawhi is nowhere near the shooter of MJ:

Kawhi's mid-range volume is 1/4 of MJ's and MJ had championship runs where he shot 40% from three on 4 attempts (1993)..

so MJ could match Kawhi from 3 without even playing in this era that emphasizes and practices threes.. and Kawhi never got hot like MJ in the 92' Finals

Agreed. Kawhi is more on the level of Pippen. If Pippen played today he'd average 35ppg at worst though. MJ would be an easy 50-60ppg. Probably 70ppg in the playoffs

Pippen is one of those guys from a prior era that would be a lot worse today because he can't shoot - think a slightly better Andre Roberson.

Otoh, 87' MJ with the same garbage cast would average about 43-44 ppg today... 50-60 might be a little much but I could see 50 in the Finals or playoff series (smaller sample size, 4-7 game sample)

Kawhi right now is on the same level as 96-98 MJ on average.

The only people disagreeing are sensitive MJ stans.

He plays like 96-98 MJ. He takes the short midrange(Ft line and under) most of the time and like the post on the block for the short turnaround fadeaway. He just not the volume scorers or have the stamina Mj had. Mj at 35 could play more minutes and more Usage% than 27 year old Kawhi. Mj didn't get to rest and save up energy for playoffs like guys today. Ecen so old Mj still put up good stats in postseason in 2nd 3 peat. Imagine 96-97 Mj getting 3-4 mins extra rest plus not playing 82 games. To get ready fir the playoffs.

Nowhere near 96 MJ.

He's probably closer to 98 MJ.

On top of that Kawhi likes to sit out games to load manage his minutes. MJ never took the foot off the pedal, he wanted to play all 82 games.

Leonard is not better than 84-98 Jordan. Those 2-3 years with the Wizards was not the true Jordan. He was 38-40 and did not play pro from 99 to 02. That's 3 years without the rythm a pro has.
