What was also funny was Bron taking the charge on Kawhi...

Kawhi got all excited seing LeBron infront of him and tried to go for the highlight play, but didnt have the cool head for the smart move and just barreled into him as LeBron stod there, composed.

Anyone have a GIF of that?

With all the times he has failed, i'll let this fluke one go.

Notice the shot clock, Kawhi had the dude locked the fvck up...

The explosion he has in strength shows even in that clip. Kawhi is no weakling and he bounces off bron.

Kawhi is the best player in the NBA though but you're crazy If you count out lebron in a team matchup.

Im glad you posted this gif - I had wanted to comment on this play

There's nothing wrong with starting a live dribble there and taking the turnaround (all post players use some live dribbles on the post sometimes)

but I thought the play showed how he lacked the pre-dribble footwork to score even easier, given that the defender was guarding him too close - a spin move would've been perfect there, which he actually attempts and butchers due to unpolished footwork.

Here's some alternatives that he could've done....

He could've read his defender and been ready UPON THE CATCH to spin immediately the appropriate way (goat off-ball skill):

https://i.makeagif.com/media/4-23-2019/iH12xP.gif

He could've done a half-spin (so he's facing the baseline after the half-spin) - this mimics an upfake that Dumars bites on, and MJ goes baseline for the finish

https://i.makeagif.com/media/4-07-2019/4kc0Fd.gif

(^^^ this is intergalactic post ability and one of my favorite post moves - not that hard to learn, but how did he ever conceive of this aikido-like move to juke the defender.. :facepalm)

Or he could've simply felt out the 6'7" defender, and turned and shot when he felt the defender relax or shift the wrong way:

https://i.makeagif.com/media/10-01-2015/kV0RAl.gif

Or he could've simply properly executed the move he was trying to do, as MJ does in his very first possession against Kobe here:

And to think Bran could have bullied Leonard there if he just posted up with authority.

Instead the Qing has no idea what the **** he's doing, dribbles a lot, and luckily makes a turnaround, after losing ground (instead of gaining), and further backing Leonard to the basket.

Sheep be sheeping, as expected. IQ - 0.

Or bully-ball!! Another good option for a player of his build

that's more his lane than a 18-foot fadeaway turnaround that he hits probably less than 30% of the time

It's really weird to critique a play where LeBron gets off a clean look, against an elite man to man defender, from a spot on the floor that he really likes and drains it. MJ lived on that type of shot at the tail end of his prime. Have you seen LeBron's 2018 playoffs? He was nailing that exact shot constantly.

Kawhi isn't guarding him too close. What are you talking about. He's actually handchecking LeBron there giving himself a cushion and chance to feel LeBron's move and respond quickly.

Here's some alternatives that he could've done....

https://i.makeagif.com/media/4-23-2019/iH12xP.gif

Bad defense there. Defender's lunging inside giving up an easy baseline drive. And the defender is basically glued to the ground. Doesn't have anything close to the mobility to keep up. I'd hope MJ in his athletic prime could take advantage of that. Not sure how that's relevant to old slow LeBron against an elite wing defender in his prime.

He could've done a half-spin (so he's facing the baseline after the half-spin) - this mimics an upfake that Dumars bites on, and MJ goes baseline for the finish

Terrible defense here. Defender lunges to contest, but it would have been a terrible contest if MJ was shooting since the defender is too low with the lunge. MJ, or anyone really could just elevate over that. So Dumars lunges off balance for no reason giving himself momentum in the wrong direction. MJ beat a defender who made a big mistake for no reason. Not sure what we're supposed to glean from that.

Except Kawhi wasn't bodying LeBron like the defender in that GIF, he was handchecking him and giving more space so that plan is a non starter.

Or he could've simply properly executed the move he was trying to do, as MJ does in his very first possession against Kobe here:

Mike is there with him on the first move and he makes a tough shot.

Second play MJ goes for a steal and Kobe continues taking it in basic fashion to the rim.

In none of those plays is Mike getting shook. Now do the ones from the 98 ASG where Mike was juking Kobe with footwork or getting total separation from him.

Yes, old ass Pippen got crossed up. A few times by young Kobe. But 35-year-old Jordan was embarrassing 19-year-old Kobe in the All-Star game and whenever they matched with footwork jukes and total separation. Calling a spade a spade. You know I like Kobe, don

The Lakers-Clippers playoff series is going to come down to the IQ of LeBron and Rondo versus the IQ of Doc and Lue, and LeBron and Rondo have the advantage.

For those that don't know, LeBron and Rondo are like computers - they're both crazy intelligent basketball people. Both can coach right now. But unlike LeBron, Rondo's body cannot keep up with his mind, but he can still impact the game with his wisdom and communication.

So LeBron and 'Do already know how the Clippers are going to try to defend the Lakers.

Kawhi won't matter defensively. There's nothing he can do to stop LeBron. He can only try to slow him down.

The Clippers will actually need Kawhi mostly on offense to try to keep up with LeBron and Davis.

Paul George will be on the outside looking in on that elite trio and will get most of the blame from Clippers fans in the end.

You all know this is inevitable.

Ball-dominance is a dumb way to play that wins much less than ball movement

So lebron and rondo are infact dumb players that play an inferior way

Lebron has played the same way since he was 12 - AAU-style ball-dominance - people conflate this dumb approach to the game with his physical gifts.. being physically-gifted isn't "genius", and being the biggest ball-dominator in history is literally the dumbest way to play - that's why he's 3/9, mostly with super-teams
