Follow-up testing on Phoenix's Deandre Ayton showed no traces of any other banned substances, sources with knowledge of results tell ESPN. NBPA is likely to fast-track arbitration process to push for a reduction as soon as possible, per sources.

The purpose of this "suspension" is to send a message to the league stars, that the NBA plans on tightening up.
I bet Silver feels the heat with the recent Lebron bs and the way the US got destroyed in FIBA.
They've tightened up travel calls.
This sends a message to the Lebrons, the Giannis, the Haywards of the league that bulking up 30lbs in the offseason is no longer safe.
They chose Ayton, because he is a semi-star, but young enough to recover from it.
Make no mistake, if they got Ayton, they could get 50 others. This is not about Ayton, this is a message.

25 games for a diuretic? They don't even know what he was on (if anything). :biggums:
I'm sorry, but that's shocking. IDK about every diuretic out in the market, but I know what the most common reason a person would take a diuretic is...and that's to lower blood pressure.
Diuretics, sometimes called water pills, help rid your body of salt (sodium) and water. Most of them help your kidneys release more sodium into your urine. The sodium takes with it water from your blood, decreasing the amount of fluid flowing through your veins and arteries. This reduces blood pressure.
Source: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-pressure/in-depth/diuretics/art-20048129
I literally take Diuretics (half a pill) every morning due to my blood pressure. I've come to the point after a year where I keep lowering the amount, to the point where I am currently only taking it 2 times per week, but the fact that he's facing a 25 game ban is appalling. Literally the ONLY thing it does is get's rid of sodium quicker and makes you pee more......that's it.
Again, idk if there are different diuretics out there and what they do, but I am aware that it is in no way something that would enhance an athletes game.

...But that's not what a Diuretic does. It breaks down sodium quicker, which makes you piss more, not flush out your system...if that were the case then diuretics would also flush out important vitamins and minerals from your body and your doc would recommend to eat a higher DV of fruits/veggies when on the pill.
That's not the case. When I got my diuretic, the doc literally said "This will make you go to the restroom slightly more than usual, just be sure to stay hydrated".
Diuretics lower your blood pressure by flushing salt out of your body, taking this unwanted extra fluid with it.

All the banned diuretics require a prescription. It'd be pretty easy to trace it back to the doctor/physician and go from there. Otherwise he knowingly got some pill from his own trainers/physicians/whoever that had the banned diuretic.
Or the best case scenario, for Ayton, is if he took some OTC pill (for whatever reason not even having anyone check it which would be Ayton's fault) that somehow was tainted with a banned diuretic. In that case it would be incredibly easy to defend himself as all he would have to do is tell the world what product he was taken which would then put the spotlight on that product and whoever manufactures that product would be in a whole lot of trouble.
The bottom line is that athletes are responsible. They specifically have the infrastructure and a system set up where it is painfully easy to have a product tested and checked for banned substances. Plus if it was a mistake then TELL THE WORLD THE PRODUCT YOU WERE USING THAT SUPPOSEDLY HAD THE BANNED DIURETIC IN IT.
Plus the whole "nothing else showed up in the test" is exactly why diuretics are used and why they are banned.

this...tennis players get a 2 year ban for a similar doping infraction. NBA testing is just for show anyway and it's there just to send a message rather than seriously crack down on juicing among athletes

coffee is a diuretic. and he could have been taking a fat burner for all we know. before you go on that it's unfair, fat burners don't work how you expect them. pissing out water weight gives you no advantage over anyone. it just dehydrates you.

Yes...and the only diuretics that are banned require a prescription...
As someone who has taken DNP multiple times in the past...I know how fat burners work.
And like I said...if he was taking a product he bought then tell us what product it was so it can be tested and then the company that made it would be ****ed.
Instead he'll still deny it and never reveal what product he supposedly took that "accidentally" had a banned diuretic in it.

our defense is an actual defense. heard the nuggets commentators praising Booker's defense...imagine that :lol
Baynes, Rubio both transforming this team...defensively too. btw, this is with Cam Johnson on injury reserve...he's 6'9 can hit 3's and defends really well. wouldn't surprise me if he wins the starting position over Oubre.

defensively he's great, lead rookies in steals. you can always count on him to put the clamps on anyone.
offensively..ehh, coming out of villenova he was shooting 43%...but he averaged 33% his rookie year. he does deserve the benefit of the doubt (we were absolutely horrible at shooting 3's last year, even Booker's 3pt % took a big dip.
he spent his entire summer in the gym tho, i think he can eventually become a good 3pt shooter with elite defense. but right now, Cam is older and a much better 3pt shooter.

he played some clutch defense on jokic after baynes was fouled out tho. gotta give him credit for that,
just hoping it's a fluke bc Ryand Anderson and Ariza both signed up to the Suns last season and they were atrociously horrible from 3pt. :(
