James ended last season on the bench for rest once LA was mathematically eliminated and has a history of selectively missing games to recuperate. Making a big deal out of this to prop James up over Leonard makes no sense when there's a fair chance James doesn't play 70 games, especially if the Lakers have a good record.

And last season should have proven the wisdom of resting Leonard. Who cares about missing back to backs when you're an NBA champion?

Kawhi has a degenerative tendon in his knee. It's going to shorten his career substantially.

Probably smart to protect the guy for as long as possible by resting him in meaningless games.

LeBron is overweight. You should get your guy to mix in a salad or he's going to be experiencing involuntary load management more frequently as he continues to get older.

Depends on PG's health, if he's slow to get in game shape I could see them losing against bad teams with Kawhi sitting out. They look like a top 3 seed without Paul George.
