Kobe got a banged up one year free agent Dwight Howard with a bad back and shoulder, and they only played one season together. Do you want to know who didn't marginalize Dwight?

James Harden.

Dwight was on the Rockets for three seasons, relatively healthy for two out of three, and they underachieved big time. James Harden is not a leader and is all about himself. Kevin McHale even said this. Harden doesn't play off-ball. All he does is stand around if he doesn't have the ball in his hands.

Yes, Dwight could have been a super Clint Capela for him, but if you don't like each other it's not going to work. At least the 2013 Lakers were pretty good considering the bullshit.

Look at the Rockets right now. Same shit, different toilet. Replace CP3 with Westbrook and nothing has changed. I am pretty sure Kobe and Dwight would have worked if Dwight was healthy and they actually had a plan in place.

TLDR: The person who should be blamed for not marginalizing Dwight Howard is James Harden because they wasted 3 seasons together unlike Kobe who only had one season with him and after the 2013 season, Kobe was pretty much done. It's unfair to even criticize Kobe for this.

People forget that laker team eventually turned it around and had the second best record in the NBA after the all star break. Losing Kobe before the playoffs was the death knell for that squad. But the Dwight Howard we see today is the one that should have played with Kobe: focusing on rebounding and rim protection and not trying to wrest first option duties from Kobe.

Even Dwight admitted before this season that he had Kobe all wrong and that he should have taken the game more seriously just like Kobe was trying to push him to do. THose lessons are finally carrying over.

Kobe was quoted right after dwight signing, he said "Dwight is going to play like a better version of prime tyson chandler". Dwight cried.
I take Kobe's side obviously.

So Lebron is the beneficiary of Kobe's pushing Dwight to be better...
