He is not good at them. He should decrease his volume.

35% isn't bad. Only time will tell how good he is at 3s. I think you need a big sample size to really get a good read on his shooting ability.

My impression is that he is taking too many contested 3s off the dribble. However if he can keep his percentage over 35 he will probably continue to have the green light.

He's actually a sniper from 3 but the NBA/NBAPA have a hidden agenda and hate to see a white player become the face of the league so what they do is move the rim ever so slightly via remote control everytime he throws up a 3, not enough for it to be noticeable by anyone, but just enough to completely change the way the ball hits the rim

He's settling for a lot of contested shots from what Ive seen. Kobe-esque

Keeps the defense on their toes. If you have to guard him that far out, it makes it easier for him to drive and collapse the D.

Same reason Trae Young does.

Kobe-esque? So he's making them?

Imagine using "Kobe-esque" as an insult after a guy just put up 30 assists in 2 games.:biggums:

OP doesn't understand what gravity means.
No i do. He shot 32% last year and 31% until yesterday this year. And i am pretty sure he won't stay at 35% this year(will drop to something like 32 33). Its not that he is bad at it, he just takes bad ones and too many. 9 a game?

OP is either a Doncic stan who fears his overall FG percentage will be brought down to westbrook levels if he takes tons of threes.

OR

A doncic hater who found the one stat which isn't excellent at first glance, but doesn't understasnd it's all about push/pull, the dance, and puppeting the defenders to make sure everything stays opened up.

Neither.
I just think he is not good enough to take 9 3s a game. He is better at other things.

Luka is a 80% free throw shooter (one of the best indicators that someone can develop a good 3 point shot).

And gravity doesn't even mean you have to have a super high 3P%. If you can hit a 3 point shot in any scenario (not just wide open) then 35% is just fine considering the other team KNOWS you are willing to shoot from anywhere at any time. 35% form 3 is way too high to just ignore someone if said person is capable of hitting 3's that solely aren't wide open.

Because he knows Ice Trae is that guy. He's not on that level.

Luka doesn't protect his percentages at all, so he will shoot a whole lot of late clock 3s and late quarter heaves.

He also shoots a few too many Curry style heat checks and he does shoot a few too many step backs.

Per NBA stats:

"Open 4-6 feet to defender": 37% on 6.3 FGA

"Wide open": 33% on 2 FGA

So it's the heat checks and the late shot clock/late quarter, which are pulling his stats down.

And yes, Luka shoots some of those step backs to keep defenders on their toes, so that he can make a dribble move.

Kobe made a paltry 32.9% of his career 3s. Lmao at acting like he was some sniper.

6 game sample size lmao.

71.3% from the line last year. He’s just not a great shooter.

Because there are no four point shots.

Thread over.
