View Full Version : "Lebron has more triple doubles than Kawhi has 10+ assist games" - Shannon Sharpe

All while playing better defense than Kawhi. Interesting statistic from our leader in chief. I noticed that this also includes 10+ rebounds games. Which is strange considering he is the "board man"
Any thoughts?

Different roles, different mindsets, different players.
Kawhi the last 2 or 3 years? A better defender than Lebron ever was. Better from midrange too.
Doesn't make him "greater" though. Same thing with Lebron and triple doubles.

So it's not good to compete like Kobe and perform every night?

This is the era we're in, Kobe went all out in his 17th season and broke down before the Playoffs, let's hope the same doesn't happen to Lebron.
Kawhi's knee issues will never go away so he has to be on load management probably for the rest of his career, that's why I thought coming into the season that the Lakers would have a better record.

Their off ball assist counts are actually extremely impressive

Off ball passing lmao
Listen RRR3, perhaps you don't recall that I stuck up for you several months ago when people shared your picture because I felt it wasn't right. I didn't understand why everyone bullied you but now I see why. You consistently act like an ignorant douche and honest to god you don't know shit about basketball if you don't know what I mean by "off ball passing/assists". I'll explain it in lamens terms. It simply means you aren't a primary ball handler, bringing the ball up-court most of the possessions yourself. You generally move around off the ball to get open in half-court sets, and you usually don't carry it yourself in transition, and so depend on someone else to pass it to you first, before you decide if you shoot or pass yourself. You are in far less control, from the start, so a good assist number in that context is impressive. This isn't even an obscure or incorrect phrase, it's common as **** to say this if you ACTUALLY PLAY.
Make sense? If not, lose some weight and learn how to play the freaking game your hero plays instead of circle jerking him with literally a child-like grasp on the game. Rest assured I'm not making the mistake of sticking up for your dumbass again you clearly don't even know how to play and it shows.

Lebron wasn't even top 10 in time of possession last season. How is he a ball hog? Wasn't Ingram isoing all the time last season? (unsuccessfully)? Wasn't Lonzo a 2nd playmaker?
Lebron just says get out of my way and takes over when it is needed.

I knew full well what you meant, but you phrased it incredibly stupidly. I admit I tend to mock stupidity on this board, especially if it comes from annoying self-righteous trolls who like to pretend they’re not trolls. If you had said “it’s impressive that Bird, who was not a primary ballhandler, still averaged a similar amount of assists as many primary ballhandlers do” I would have had no qualms with your post. Instead, you phrased it in a manner which suggests Bird and Kawhi are using telekinesis to get assists. This is one of the most infamous 3ball comments (one example of him using it: http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355811). He was widely mocked for it and you likely will be too if more people see it. BTW if you watch Kawhi play he ISOs a TON. He is not Klay Thompson.
I’m not sure why I’m supposed to worship you for “defending my honor” from obsessive Kobetard and/or trumptard trolls mad at me for trolling them back and who are too cowardly to post their own pics when the second I laugh at a dumb statement of yours you call me a fat nerd (I’m 6 feet and roughly 195 pounds give or take. You have an odd definition of fat. I would like to get in better shape but fat is a reach) :confusedshrug:
I think you’re under the impression that you’re not a troll and a shitposter. You are. Almost all of ISH is. Many of us, like me and hopefully you, wouldn’t be on a board that was decently regulated but here we are. I don’t act “like an ignorant douche” to people like Kblaze, NBAGOAT, Shawkfactory, etc. Ever. You should probably consider the type of posters I respond in that way to and then consider why you get it as well.

Bro, at least own trolling at times like the rest of us.
Although unlike you most of my trolling is reserved in responding to trolls, dumbasses or ignorant hateful people on the OTC. You’re the one starting threads trying to troll LeBron and then getting mad when I treat you like an irrational LeBron hating troll. The reason I don’t take your LeBron criticism seriously is you’ve already demonstrated you’re an irrational hater. I disagree with Kblaze’s takes on LeBron sometimes but I respect him and would never say he’s being a “hater”. LeBron can be criticized but I don’t take criticism from a bitter hater like you very seriously.
Also...you really think RMWG (a MOD) doesn’t know ball and is a troll? He seemed pretty incredulous of the idea of off ball passing as well, my dude.

the offball stuff with kawhi would be valid... except he's an onball guy at this point. Lot of pnrs and isos with some midrange postups. Yea he'll come off screens or be a pnpop man sometimes but not as often as people think. Comparing him to bird is laughable. he's a nice offball spacer but so is 40% of the league
curry is the one to create open shots for teammates without touching the ball or getting credit for an assist.

I did notice Kawhi was taking control of more possessions the 3 Clippers games I watched this season - a general upswing in his ball handling duties is very valid to point out but since this was more of a career stat comparison career wise I still consider him to be a majority off ball player by comparison to an almost career long ball handler like LeBron. Since this was not just an "at this point" comparison that's why I made the rough comparison to Magic vs Bird. And it wasn't meant to be a measure of how good they are either it was just to illustrate the on vs off ball nature hopefully that part is also clear.

Yeah this is an easy one. There's the obvious which is that LeBron is the better passer. The other is that they play differently. LeBron is a strictly on ball guy. He wants the ball in his hands alot. He dosnt play off ball at all. This will lead to amazing stats like harden and Westbrook but its not the best path to winning chips. Kawhi mixes it up more sorta like mj. This won't lead to as good of stats but it will lead to more chips.

How does it lead to more chips..? Kawhi got some of the easiest chips in NBA history due to luck. Not his ability or playstyle.
2014.. we saw Kawhi basically face the 07 Cavs. As Wade was hobbled and washed up.. Lebron had no one. Kawhi got to face that all while riding coattails of the Spurs dynasty.
2019..? Kawhi had IMMENSE help and faced who exactly? Steph, Draymond and Looney tunes..?
Lebron has actually EARNED his championships. Puts up better numbers and is more impressive overall. Lebron has only lost ONCE as the favorite in the NBA finals..

Ball movement is always better than one guy Monopolizing the ball. Just look at most of the past champions. Warriors, spurs, Mavs, Lakers, bulls. Even Bron in Miami played in more of a system the used alot of ball movement.
And what are you talking about? that spurs team you speak of was older and more washed up than Miami. Bosh was only 29 and Wade was 32. Duncan on the other hand was 37 and manu was 36. Miami should of won that series.
LeBron should of also beat the warriors in 17. He had a great team with another star. Harden and Paul took the kd warriors to 7 why couldn't Bron?
I'm a Bron fan man but I find most Bron fans annoying. To say Bron was never the favorite means you never really had faith he was the best player in the world and was good enough to will a victory. I never thought mj was the underdog. I thought he was so good that he could always get the win. Even when he was younger and didn't have as strong of a team.
LeBron fans don't think about LeBron this way. I wonder why?

We all know LeShannon hangs by Bran's balls. Him saying stupid shit is normal.
The likes of Jordan, Kobe and Kawhi do not monopolize the offense like Lebron does, despite being the focus. It's no surprise to me that those 3 players played under coaches like Pop and Phill who would have none of Lebron Ball, whether you're Jordan, Duncan or the President. Now we all know if Bran ever had any of those two as coaches, they would end up fired, ending up writing a book about how one dimensional and unflexible the fraud is - the man simply can't play off ball. His midrange game is not elite and will never be.
It's also not surprising the correlation in Finals winning percentage of those players compared to the fraud.
