Most of Mexico isn't violent. The US media is yellow journalism at its best, they push fake news all the time. Yes there are extremely dangerous places where cartels are going at it for control of those plazas but overall, it's safe, just need to avoid the dangerous places.

Queretaro is the city I currently live in, zero cartel violence and no, not worried about it coming here because it's not a corridor into the US nor is it territory where you can cultivate drugs, landscape is too dry.

Honestly, I've no idea...Calderon started an all out war in 2006, went after them hard and thats basically when shit hit the fan. Lots of capos were killed or captured but new ones just took their place. You simply aren't gonna kill them all off if the money in that business is so ridiculous. His approach is that an all out war hasn't ended the cartels, so let's let them be and hope they stop the violence...

He has said that Mexico is paying a heavy price in human costs trying to stop drugs from getting into the US where the demand for drugs is insane. Essentially Mexicans are dying because Americans want those drugs.

The US needs to tackle the issue of demand from their populace...if Mexico stopped all drugs coming from MX to the US, then the drugs would come from someplace else.

Basic capitalism, supply and demand. If the demand isn't there, there is really no reason for the supply, no?

Portugal made all drugs legal almost 20 years ago and their drug usage all across the board went down.
