Jordans here baby..

in this video I just want you to watch about a total of 4 seconds starting at 1:31

in this play we see him take 3 total dribbles from the opponents free throw line to just right around the inside of the bulls 3 point line.

This discounts the gather dribbles where he was trying to get control of the ball, the first real dribble attack move is just past the free throw line.

MJ's so quick. He's so smooth with his actions. Efficiency in his movements. Those fakes then drives or jumper are nasty. Explosive quick first step. This is what kids need to appreciate. Respect the Legends!

DRose was faster. But ok Jordan simply had everything. Defence and ability to not get injured.

Kawhi can't touch Mike in any area of the game, not even palming

Kawhi has much better load management.

no point in checking perimeter when nobody can hit iron outside 20 feet, might as well stuff that paint with traffic cones

common sense, good shooting promotes spacing

and yet despite the more difficult shot selection that no spacing yielded (contested 2-pointers), the overall efficiency and ORtg from previous eras compares to today's just fine

this proves how skilled previous eras were at contested 2-pointers, which is the expected shot allocation of a no-spacing environment... (as opposed to today's spacing-induced open layups and 3's allocation)...

ultimately, today's spacing and hands-off defense makes shots easier and more open, so it takes less skill to make them - 25 ppg in the 80's and 90's > 25 ppg today... aka, it requires superior skill to make contested two's than open layups and threes

I saw a stat that showed that 3 point shooting in 1991 was 35% overall compared to 37% in 2018 I believe it was

so these forklift drivers and AC technicians shot at almost the same clip without ever practicing the shot, which is ALL these players today do.

Its unfathomable to even contemplate an NBA basketball athlete moving like that.

Comparable to watching a +30 year old, single malt whiskey being poured into a dram for consumption.
