Citing shoulder and ribs as areas of concern and reasons for him to rest. Reported originally by ESPN.

Good. It will give others an opportunity to step up and give AD the rest he needs. Win-Win.

Is this supposed to be a slight at AD? Or are you just trying to be witty?

And the game is a guaranteed win. Against a decent team, they might have had him play. But its the warriors. He can heal up.

It means AD may need some rest throughout a very long season and this seems to be a good time to do it.

Popovich tested this method with Duncan in his prime and it proved to be successful. Also, 82 games is different if you are almost 7 feet tall. A 6'2 guard has a different body. The bigger you are the more rest you need.

Sitting out an interesting matchup is not something I like. But against this year's Warriors? Probably the best choice. Plus Kuzma needs more minutes to get back into shape and he will probably play 30+ minutes tonight.

That's not my question. Read my OP since you decided to click on the thread, I'm obviously for AD sitting out tonight.

People have been saying "load management" to players they suspect of taking time off without actual injury. In this scenario, AD is actually dealing with injuries that, although are not bad enough to keep him out, they are lingering to the point where he is playing with discomfort.

And it was evident in the last 2 games. My question to the poster I quoted was basically if he was being sarcastic or not by saying "load management".

Lakers are 8-2. No one wants to lose games you should win but if they lose it, they are 8-3... or they win and are 9-2

I've been saying this is a good game to spot start Kuzma and Howard.

This is going to be a disgusting blowout against my GOAT but we all know he will still find a way to muster up his negative impact triple double in the L!!

It's load management you dolt. Of all games he can miss, playing the bottom team in the conference is the one to do it.

Or are you deliberately being stupid?

Anyone want to educate this child on the difference between injury and load management..?

He is wrong, though.

If it were a playoff game, Davis would play through it. Other than that, nah. Doesn't matter what team.

He clearly injured a rib or ribs last night, and his shoulder has been bothering him.

It's a different thing entirely from Kawhi sitting out when Kawhi is running around without a limp or any signs of injury whatsoever just because he's worried about getting hurt.

One is load management and one isn't.

Just another coddled "superstar" that can't handle playing every night. But that's the norm nowadays for basketball players.

Kyle Kuzma stepped up big time, and is proving to be a great 3rd option. His last 3 games were as follows:

15pts on 46.2%, 5rebs vs Toronto
23pts on 56.3%, 4rebs vs Suns
22pts on 58.3%, 5 rebs vs Warriors

And he hit 9 threes in those games shooting 47.4% from three. He has been wonderful. I knew he needed time after not playing at all after that team USA injury, no training camp or preseason.

Yup, he should be back to averaging 18ish ppg soon enough, he'll come up big for us in games where AD and/or Bran struggle.
