View Full Version : The biggest flaw of MJ was very specific

Not many teams picked up or were able to exploit it. But the pistons took advantage of his inability/unwillingness to pass the ball once he picked it up off the dribble on his left side

pretty specific weakness, but that defense gave him fits

You want me to post videos of him doing this routinely, again (https://i.makeagif.com/media/3-28-2019/ctPxav.gif), again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jbrTZaz0aY&t=03m15s), again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbaqbclM08c&t=03m39s) and again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbaqbclM08c&t=03m58s)?

It's not a valid criticism.. :confusedshrug:

People called MJ a ball-hog in the 80's, but teammates were actually growing by leaps and bounds alongside him.. Pippen, Horace and BJ grew from single-digit rookies into all-star caliber by the time MJ retired in 1993..

And his improving cast was the changing factor that allowed winning, not MJ passing more - MJ averaged 6 assists in the 80's, including an 8 assist season.. So he was always a good passer - that never changed - the thing that changed was his cast got better (which proved that his game was infact optimal and helped teammates)

Otoh, Lebron gets destroyed as an underdog (07'), or with high-seeded super-teams (14')... the problem was never LeBron's cast, it was always his game (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13867350&postcount=101)

His flaw was relying on Scottie Pippen

Playoff Record for Jordan:

Before Pippen = 1 for 10
After Pippen = Missed playoffs two years in a row

His flaw was relying on Scottie Pippen

then Lebron's flaw is relying on better players than Pippen, such as Wade and AD....

while also relying on guys that PLAYED better than Pippen, like Kyrie (see the stats below

His flaw was relying on Scottie Pippen

Wade and AD > Pippen, while Kyrie played better than Pippen:

Playoffs

Kyriew 16-17' (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/irvinky01.html#2016-2017-sum:playoffs_per_game):. 23.9 ppg.. 57.3 ts.. 41% threes.. 89% ft.. 2.5 tov.. 23.0 PER.. 0.181 ws/48.. 3.6 obpm
Pippen 91-96' (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pippesc01.html#1991-1996-sum:playoffs_per_game):. 19.8 ppg.. 52.4 ts.. 28% threes.. 72% ft.. 3.1 tov.. 19.7 PER.. 0.157 ws/48.. 3.1 obpm

Kyrien' 16-17' (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/irvinky01.html#2016-2017-sum:playoffs_advanced):. outplayed league mvp.. hit Finals-winning shot
Pippen 91-96' (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pippesc01.html#1991-1996-sum:playoffs_advanced):. outplayed by schrempf.. no winning shots

Playoff Record for Jordan:

Before Pippen = 1 for 10

Jordan's 1-9 represented an accelerated learning curve that he was good enough to be on, while other guys like Durant, Lebron, and Curry infact MISSED the playoffs in their first few years, thus failing to establish the foundation that would allow multiple organic rings (without teaming up with multiple stars or mvp's).

So pretty much they were just forcing him to his weak hand. Pretty sure every defence tried this. Actually pretty much much every defence everywhere in the world tries this with all players. Dosnt seem all that specific to be honest.

Didn't mj average like 30pts and 6 assists on around 50% shooting in the playoffs against one of the greatest championship teams ever ? I know he only won 1 out of the 4 series but he was still pretty young with very little help. What's the point?

Bransvestites are masochistic.

They thoroughly enjoy you beating them like rented mules.

They know they can't compete with you intellectually or physically after we saw the video of you destroying dudes on the court while you wore flip flops.

They know they're inferior and just you talking to them on a message board makes them feel alive.

I swear, some of these kids only motivation is life is to have 3ball prove them wrong everyday so that they can repeat the shit he tells them to their classmates.

Teacher be like "how does this kid know so much about a man they never saw play?"
