Some acquaintances who seem superficially knowledgeable about basketball admitted that they only follow the game through highlight clips and boxscores summaries. is this very prevalent among modern basketball enthusiasts?

Like 10 full games (live) and another 20 to 30 quarters that seem interesting after having checked game data (box score, play by play, etc.). I have NBA League Pass, so it's easy to do.

During the playoffs I watch more games.

All Laker and Clipper games.

Besides that, maybe 4-5 FULL games a week?

Its tough when you have a busy schedule. I watch full-game recaps from 'Dawkins' and 'House of Highlights' though. They're 10 minute TEAM highlights from a game.

Also hard to keep up with something you're slowly losing interest for. The league has become soft and watered down because of the rules. Not a lot of flavor either with everyone playing the exact same way.

I've watched 3 full games of the Knicks in the past 2 weeks. I can't watch full games with my favorite player neutered and chilling at the 3 point line (Westbrook). The only moments that matter now are the final 5 mins of close games. In those I could even watch 2 shitty teams.

I watch highlights daily. I dvr several games and then decide which ones i want to watch.

With the Wizards i will usually start watching when the first half is almost over. That way i can tell if they showed up or not. If they lay down i just delete it. I don't watch them live because i am not interested in watching them get blown out.

I tape several other games then decide afterwards if i want to watch. Sometimes i will tape the game of the day on the NBA channel after the fact and watch that.

I might watch 2-3 a week of other teams.

Sometimes I will watch the end of games live if i see there is a good game coming down to the wire.

sounds like 4-5 is on the upper end of what fans watch

maybe this is why ESPN is gonna air more Bronny jr + Wade Jr games than some nba teams this season:

Keep in mind a lot of NBA fans are NFL fans too. I bet a lot of people will watch more games after the NFL conference championships.

I read the boxscores and Steven A. Smith gives me more insight than actually watching the games.

I coach swimming at 5am two days a week and it's messed up my basketball watching because I can't watch any late games.

~4 a week, 6-8 when I can. Around the holidays I watch a lot more. I watch a ton of the playoffs too, and March madness, maybe 8-10 a week during those periods.

Im switching between like 2-3 games everyday if I'm home that evening/weekend.

I would say 6-7 full games a week cumulatively.

I always watch Laker full games so that’s 3-4 per week. On days when lakers aren’t playing, I usually have whatever nationally televised game is on in the background where I might actually pay attention for a quarter or two.

A couple. Maybe 1-2 non Warrior games and try to focus on quarters and highlights of other games.

1 usually. I find it boring to sit around and watch for the full 2 and a half hours. I'm usually doing something else while I have the game on.

What kind of nerd actually sits down and watches an entire game of basketball?
