View Full Version : Why I Believe It's Going To Be a Milwaukee - Lakers Final (And Why L.A Wins)

WHY LAKERS AND MILWAUKEE

Milwaukee is a top 5 offense and defense. They have elite length/shotblocking upfront, and athletic defenders on the perimeter.

Giannis is the most unstoppable force in the game -- biggest physical presence.

Lakers are a top 5 offense and defense (I believe the offense will be there come playoffs.)

They have the best interior defense in the league by far. At any given time they will have one if not TWO 7-6 wingspan elite shotblockers. With this level of defensive insurance, it's no wonder LeBron is thriving as the free safety, and DG/Bradley/KCP/Caruso hounding on the perimeter.

Easily the best defense in the league.

Think about it -- when was the last time a PF/C frontcourt had THIS much length, let alone shotblocking ability? Favors and Gobert with 7-4 and 7-9... Bynum and Gasol with 7-6 and 7-5. Duncan + Robinson.

Lakers got 3 of them.

Not only that, they're athletic and mobile.

WHY LAKERS BEAT MILWAUKEE

Out of all the teams in the league, they have the best personnel to shutdown Giannis. Honestly, is there a better guy to match up 1 on 1 with Giannis, than AD?

This generations version of KG and Duncan.

But honestly, the new slimmed-down Dwight might be the man for the job.

The freakiest physical specimens since Shaq have been LeBron and Dwight. Even in older age, I think together... With AD... They can shut him down like Toronto did.

They've got the personnel

Aside from shutting Giannis down, Lakers have two superstars. The Khris Middleton's and Eric Bledsoe's of the world can't matchup.

CONTENDERS WHO ARE PRETENDERS

Clippers lack interior defense + load management will hurt their seeding

Houston doesn't have the defense -- gimmick teams don't win championships

Utah doesn't have the offense

Denver lacks top-end superstar talent -- bunch of borderline all-star guys won't cut it

Philly doesn't have the offense

Miami lacks superstar talent

Boston lacks superstar talent

yea have the Lakers faced Paul and Kawhi yet? Oh wait they lost to the Clippers already without PG.

Houston almost defeated the Warriors 2 years ago and have reloaded.

Miami Heat are not contenders. Not yet. If they are then so is Phoenix.

Portland can make a run once Nurcic returns.

Still early but a good read.

PS who will close games for the Lakers? LeBron. Hmmm... good luck. Maybe He will improve that? Historically a weakness.

Houston had a top 6 defense in 2018 -- they'd be lucky to be top 10 this year.

I agree with the Miami statement.

Portland are too far back to go all the way.

I agree.

To this point I've seen all the 'contenders' 2-3 times now and the only teams that haven't underwhelmed me are LAL and MIL. MIL is right where I figured they'd be and Lakers have exceeded expectations thanks to Howard.
