Currently 6 turnovers away from having the most turnovers all time combining regular season and playoffs (Karl Malone currently has lead)

Will he get it tonight?

How close is he to the record for most bricks, and who will he take that crown from if he ever gets there?

I think it definitely should be stated.

Having the most turnovers all time, while not a GOOD THING, is like Kobe having the most misses of all time.

It comes with the territory of being great for a long time.

Idk the stats, but it wouldn't surprise me if Lebron ends up having the most misses of all time...he might have the most things of all time of any one player :lol

I bet the lists of most misses and most turnovers are FILLED with all-time greats.

Where is OP getting those numbers from?

https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/tov_career.html

1. Malone: 4524
2. Stockton: 4244
3. LeBron: 4202

LeBron is still over 500 turnovers away from the record :lol

Edit, just saw it was regular season AND playoffs combined, which is kinda weird

Wow how much of a ball hog do you have to be to have the most turnovers of all time?

Not really. Kobe's shooting efficiency was really never that great. He only even shot over 50% on 2 point shots once in his entire career and doesn't have that great of an efg% for his career. It's not just that he took so many shots, but that he was just okay efficient wise, too. He has far more missed shots than guys who took a similar amount of shots for their careers. LeBron having the most turnovers of all time with his amount of points and assists and longevity isn't really that big of deal. It's not like he was putting up James Harden type turnover seasons or anything.

Bro Kobe missing the most shots all time isn't a big deal either. He was also solidly efficient and is one of the best scorers of all time.

Again, the list for most missed shots all time will be filled with mostly the best scorers of all time.

If you want to look at it one way, a missed shot is > a turnover...so the most turnovers list could be considered worse...especially since Lebron is going to DESTROY that record.

Lebron has 8,807 assists, the all-time leader has 15,806, it's not like Kobe has the most misses while having half the points.

I wonder how the arguments will shift when that occurs though

LeStans gonna start deriding Kobe for being 2nd? Lol

What kind of idiotic statement is this? You don't just turn the ball over on passes. John Stockton averaged 13.1ppg for his career to LeBron's 27.1.

Hmm, Lebron already has almost 200 more TOs than Kobe in 135 less games.

That happens when you try to play part time PG but do not have the handles nor the court vision to do so

No, it happens when you do both scoring and passing.

If you look at which players are near the top of the alltime turnover list, it is great scorers (examples: Karl Malone and Kobe Bryant) or great passers (examples: John Stockton and Jason Kidd)

Lebron is the only one who did a lot of scoring AND a lot of passing, so he will end up with the highest amount of turnovers.

Soon you will also see Westbrook and Harden enter the list, two other players that do both scoring and passing ...

Shooting the ball directly correlates to scoring.
Passing the ball does NOT directly correlate to turnovers.

Why do I have to explain this on a basketball forum?

A bad shot is a missed shot

A bad passed is a missed pass aka a turnover
