This used to be a hot debate for years in the league. I remember at least thru 2009 for sure. Did it end in 2010 or when exactly?

never was a debate as far as I'm concerned. One was a high scoring small forward the other one of the greats

I still don't think it's been settled tbh, Carmelo's looking like he's ready to take back the mantle

Forgot Melo was able to beat the Mavs in the playoffs while Lebron couldn't even with HCA

He's a troll. You could make an argument that second year LeBron and second year Wade were both better than Carmelo ever was.

Ha, you have to the love irony of saying "it's a team game" as a way to defend Carmelo.

No you can't. You can't even argue Peak Lebron is better than Carmelo as Peak Lebron couldn't beat Dirk even with HCA while Melo was able to.

Let me put this another way... people can say stupid shit as much as they want to, but that doesn't mean there's an actual discussion and an actual argument about it.

I could claim to have a 5 foot vertical when my anger level explodes, but that doesn't mean it'd be an actual debate if anyone decided to tell me how stupid I was for saying such a thing. It would just mean that I was saying stupid shit.

We've had concrete proof since 2003. Debates typically don't form over such matters.

The last time this was an actual debate with some merit behind it was probably around the time Carmelo won the NCAA title with Syracuse and definitely BEFORE LeBron played his first regular season NBA game against the Sacramento Kings.

2007 when Lebron led Cavs to Finals
2009 when Lebron won MVP and Cavs had best record in league (Giannis seperated himself from many players (for example Anthony Davis) by doing same thing last year)
2010 when Lebron repeated 2009 accomplishments

I remember people saying Melo would have a better later career, because he can rely on shoot, and Lebron would fall in disgrace w/o his athleticism. Some trolls said LJ would suck at 30 y/o even :lol

In their sophomore year.

Correct, Melo vs Lebron was a debate when they were rookies, but by their sophomore year it was clear to everyone that Lebron was better.

Sophomore year.
Their rookie seasons were comparable, then Lebron improved far more than Anthony.

Correct-a-mente.

The only legit debate back then, around 2004, was whether Anthony deserved the RoY award over the eventual winner cuz he made the playoffs.

Sophomore year.
Their rookie seasons were comparable, then Lebron improved far more than Anthony.I think so as well. By 2005, Lebron was clearly a shade above. I think he increased the gap a bit before Melo started to explode in late 2006 (pre Iverson trade).
Even though the Nuggets turned into a great team and Melo played well and was making it deep in the playoffs, I think Lebron was clearly better at that point.

I agree. 2005 is when Lebron took a step forward and separated himself.
