5 wins 10 losses. They have Aldridge and Derozan
Do you think Popovich is past his prime as a Coach.

It's been rough for Pop after his wife passed :(
-the Kawhit scandle
-the FIBA shortcomings
-now the Derozan massacre

True. I think Duncan might replace him as a coach in the near future.

I'd be better for them to hire someone more experienced.

This team won 50+ games for like 15 straight seasons.
They had plenty of glory. Back to the lottery and rebuild I say.

All great coaches will reach their downhill... perhaps Pops time is up. FIBA was the start actually.

really bad defensively. dejounte is the only starter who does well on that end.
I dont think playing derozan and aldridge together can work well in the nba today but the spurs are scoring fine so far. They're pretty efficient and mills/forbes are great shooters

Is that supposed to be an argument for them winning more? Neither of those two are high impact players. The main problem, though, is they are a terrible defensive team. They aren't getting blown out of games, though, as they are a good offensive team. They only have a -2.7 differential. Irregardless, the team overachieved last season.

you just can't win in this league with a MJ- type player as a 1st option

Pop distanced himself from the 3 point craze to the detriment of his team. Spurs were their best when their focus was on defense, ball movement, and perimeter shooting. You just can't excel at that with the current roster. Pop needs to accept that the midrange game is gone, it's in the past. Embrace the 3 point, old man.

The weird part is that they were playing solid at the beginning of the season, they started 4-1. Everything's been downhill since then though, looking like this will finally be the end of their playoff streak

DeRozan to Jordan is like Hassan Whiteside to Shaq. If it were an IQ test... but wait a minute... why would anyone give you such a thing.
The Spurs are not good because they lack personnel. They don't have good enough players. Plus Popovich is old school. As much as I like his approach, without at least 1 real star and two borderline all-stars his approach is not going to work in today's league. Pop could and would win with peak Duncan, Manu and Bowen, let alone Duncan and Robinson + Avery. With LMA and DeRozan... not good players enough. So a different approach would be needed which is Pop stubborn to do. And he shouldn't. He is what? 70? 75? Had his good days, time to do something else.

Spamming mid range jumpshots all game don't work in this era, Spurs are dead last in 3 points made + there defense has been awful

Aldridge is a good defender. Or at least he can be.

LMA and DeRozan aren't cutting it. They went to the playoffs last year, and I thought they would be even better with Murray in the line up. But their defense sucks harder than last year so far. Their offense is fine. Even with their lack of 3s, it's still okay I feel. They are still top 10 in the league offensively. It's just that they can't stop the other team from scoring. They are one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
Unless you are destroying teams offensively, I don't think the team will get far unless they step up their defense.
There's still plenty of time for them to get better and they could still make the playoffs. They started off the season pretty strong, but now it doesn't look good.
