Part of the Melo hate I get. He was stupid with his comments not coming off the bench. He may have made other stupid comments I must have missed. And yes, he was never the best player in the league and I think he was never a top 5 player either. (Or if he was, I can't remember when.)

It may also be true he doesn't deserve a starting spot... or perhaps no spot at all... I think he can be a nice bench player... maybe not. Actually, I don't care that much either way.

But why does everyone pretend he was never good? I mean... he was. Never a good defender or great passer but had a very nice offensive game. As far as I know he also wan't a bad teammate. So... why is it we have to laugh at him never being any good?

Interesting move by the Blazers to start Melo again.

They're basically saying, "Okay, you're all in, now show us what you got."

He got burnt bad on a couple of picks but Blazers defense didn't try to help him out at all. He is showing his age. After his contests he gives up.

He can be a solid bench player but man he is not a starter.

He hasn't figured out that when he sees the gap that he can no longer attack the lane and dunk.. by the time he gets there he just gets blocked:lol gotta fake then lay it in..

His shot, footwork, etc is still top notch

No one's laughing at him for never being good, I think almost everyone here agrees he's good enough to come off the bench but he has to adapt.

He can still hit 3s, he's 2/3 again tonight and has moved well offensively, even off the ball to get himself wide open, right now he's put into a starting role due to injuries for Portland, so he has the ability to show out offensively, he's in the perfect situation right now as far as his individual production goes, he'll get 10-15 shots a night.

It's clear to me that he has a spot in the NBA as a shooter, it's up to him to adapt and not force it inside as much though, he can't finish over players like he used to and he won't get the superstar calls. Haven't seen many long 2s so that's a good sign.

He's done well enough for someone who hasn't played for a year, he'll help Portland's 3-Point shooting.

Great sequence for Melo on defense & offense. :applause: "get the **** out of here!" as he boxes out Giannis for the board and hits it in his face on the other end.

Just saw Carmelo had a -8.73 PER the first game he played as a Blazer :lol

That's right, a negative PER.

His box score looks better this game.

That was actually a solid game by Melo:biggums:

Didn't expect that.

Maybe he really can help this team when healthy. We won't really know until Nurkic and Collins are back. But man his jumper looks good.

Another solid game by Donte DiVincenzo. :applause:

DDV's upgrowth will probably go a longer way towards filling in Brogdon's void than all our free-agent signees. As serviceable as Kyle Korver, Robin Lopez, and Wesley Matthews can be, they're just not nearly as young and multiskilled.

I never want to see any player injured—much less one of my team's best—but it couldn't have happened at a much more providential time for Middleton: we can manageably stay afloat without him during the easiest leg of our schedule, and DDV gets his overdue opportunities to flourish.
