this is interesting.
i am wondering if Rivulon will deliver on their proposed truck. 400 mile range, 11k towing capacity, 0-60 in 3 seconds. numbers sound great but they are a new player in the industry. Elon has the advantage of experience.

Tesla not only has the battery experience AND auto experience over Rivian, but they are literally lightyears ahead of everyone in the self driving sect... not imagined Bob Myers Golden State lightyears ahead... actual legit lightyears... they have so much data from the cars already on the roads that it'll take another manufacturer a decade to catch up... assuming they even start any time soon. Plus, and this is an assumption on my part, my guess would be the brains at Tesla >>>>>>>>> the brains at the competition, lol.
If the price points are remotely the same, it's a no brainer.
Now ~16 minutes out.
edit: although, I did forget to mention/think of the fact that Tesla has made a lot of their patents public. Elon has stated on multiple occasions that the goal of Tesla is to push the auto industry to renewable energy, not to become the dominant manufacturer.

ehh, self driving isn't exclusive to tesla. google is in on it, volvo, uber, lyft, etc. a lot of these companies are developing it to sell it to car manufacturers.
rivian pickup looks way better too.

Self driving is almost exclusive to Tesla, right now. You're extremely wrong. I understand that those companies are working on it also but they're in very different spots, their tech is different and I don't think you understand just how much more data Tesla has because of their network of vehicles on the roads. All of these companies developing tech around exclusively radar based autonomy are going to fall flat on their faces.

Bro they staged a whole demo of their armor glass off the truck with a metal ball not denting it (off truck)
Then when they took a ball to throw at the truck, it blistered and ELON got red af in the face. They threw it at another window and it splintered AGAIN :oldlol:

Wow I think they really shit the bed with the body.
The stats on the truck and the price point are absolutely ****ING AMAZING, however.
But the body design is absolute dog shit in terms of aesthetics and this will likely bomb as a result.
And holy cringe with the glass breaking demo... I seriously felt uncomfortable watching that.
I hope that this project doesn't cause Tesla to take losses to the point that it slows them down or puts them out of business. The body is really, really bad aesthetically speaking. I don't know what Elon was thinking.
I think the bed design and the retractable cover for the bed and the ramp are pretty ****ing awesome. I think the truck overall looks like a more jagged version of the Delorian.
But starting at 39,900? Are you joking? Holy shit. That in itself is amazing.
I don't know what to think. He hit it out of the park with everything except for the aesthetics... which people won't ignore.

I also think with how much bragging that he did about the toughness of it, you're going to have a lot of ignorant and or jealous rednecks seriously ****ing these things up nation wide in parking lots for reasons of wanting to clown it(rightfully so lol) or jealousy or whatever.

The truck looks like something designed to roam on Mars...
I hate this vehicle and I love this vehicle at the same time.
The stats are just amazing but the aesthetics are god awful... I know I'm repeating myself but holy disappointment.
I... hope they do a re-design... all I'm saying... and not available until late 2022? lol... good thing they've got plenty of time to change it.

The great price has a lot to do with the very simple shape.

Flat glass is way cheaper than curved. Flat stainless steel is way easier to form and they don't even need to paint it.
Combine all this with the very few moving parts and complications that go along with an electric drive system and you have something that's going to run for a long time and be really easy to fix if anything should go wrong.
With a company struggling to make a start and fighting for its survival, planned obsolesence is not an option. This freaking truck will go for 30-50 years no problem.

It's a terrible design. They could have made a truck with less of an angular design at similar pricing. This looks like you risk needing a tetanus shot ever time you get in and out.

I preordered one... only $100 and it’s refundable... I figure the shape will change before release and if not that means there will be enough of them on the road that it’s not a total embarrassment.
The guts are too nice to worry about the physical appearance particularly with full autonomy around the corner.
