The gold standard formula gives proper weight to context that surrounds a players finals performances. FMVP are the most important, so they are weighted the most heavily, with additional criteria weighted properly based on importance. Having a team good enough to get you to the finals but then losing needs to be taking into account. Total finals appearances needs to be respected. Total rings even as a "B" player needs to be somewhat acknowledged. Total go ahead shots matter, as do assisted go ahead shots and even unassisted go ahead shots which essentially determine a finals series win.

[2*FMVP rings] + total rings + [0.5 * total rings as 2nd best player on the team] + total made go ahead shots in finals series + [0.5*total assisted go ahead shots] - [0.5* total go ahead shots made by a teammate that alpha didn't assist on] - [0.5*total finals losses] + [0.5*total finals appearances]

Jordan
[2*6]+6+[0.5*0]+4+[0.5*2]-[0.5*0]-[0.5*0]+[0.5*6] = 26

Russell
[2*0]+11+[0.5*5]+0+[0.5*0]-[0.5*0]-[0.5*1]+[0.5*11] = 18.5

Magic
[2*3]+5+[0.5*2]+0+[0.5*0]-[0.5*0]-[0.5*4]+[0.5*9] = 14.5

Kobe
[2*2]+5+[0.5*3]+2+[0.5*0]-[0.5*2]-[0.5*2]+[0.5*7] = 14

Duncan
[2*3]+5+[0.5*1]+0+[0.5*0]-[0.5*0]-[0.5*1]+[0.5*6] = 14

Kareem
[2*2]+6+[0.5*0]+0+[0.5*0]-[0.5*0]-[0.5*4]+[0.5*10] = 13

Lebron
[3*2]+3+[0.5*0]+0+[0.5*0]-[0.5*2]-[0.5*6]+[0.5*9] = 9.5

No meltdowns please. This is a very fair formula which takes the most important things into account.

CONTEXT is the biggest factor... and EVERYTHING should count..

Context:
* 60's dont have the awards yet like; FMVP, DPOY, etc. And stats like steals...
* Awards and stats in the 70's are'nt at par against any decade, due to half of the talent is playing in ABA.
* Dynasty rings "superteams" (Celtics 60s, Celtics 80s, Lakers 80s, Bulls 90s, Lakers 00s, Heat 10s, Warriors 10s) are less worthy than underdog Rings (Piston 04, Mavs 11, Cavs 16, Bullets 78, Rockets 95).

Everything:
* You put that much credit winning a FMVP, but don't give a damn for All-NBA and other awards like DPOY, ROY, ASMVP, etc.

I like having a formula, to really provide a bias free and accurate GOAT ranking.
But it would take more than what have OP shared.

Numbers (constants) seem a bit arbitrary. If I put it in an excel sheet and weigh the categories a bit differently... you will see a totally different result.

This is the problem with all formulas. Categories are... well... okay... but the weighing of them is up to the guy coming up with the 'formula'... so it is alway built-in bias. (One plays around with his formula, to make the constants 'reasonable'... etc.)

Did you try doing a sensitivity analysis?

People were talking about how Bill only lost 1 finals in 12 appearances and KAJ lost 4 in 10 appearances when Lebron was still in diapers.
You sure?
