So,

According to ESPN Stats Philly sits at 4th in the league with 26.9 APG as a team.

But here's the interesting part.

They hold the League Leading stat on Assist DIFFERENTIAL. (How many more assists per game they have over the other team)
In other words, they DISRUPT the passing game of other teams.

Just to give you some context,
Number 2 team in the Assist Differential ranking?

Los Angeles Lakers with a +3.1 Assists per game.
The Sixers? +7.1 Assists over the competition per game.

This is a deep aspect of their defense, but it seems like Richardson, Horford, Embiid and Simmons are all really good at denying 'beautiful basketball'. Its almost like the key to beating them will have to be Elite one on one play. AKA a Kawhi/Harden type of player.

You know who might really suffer from this stat?

A team like the Bucks. I feel like they really depend on Giannis caving the D and passing out to 3 point shooters.

Would be interesting to see if this massive gap in Assist Allowed Per game will persist.

interesting stat. it looks like they'd give a team like the Lakers issues since they have no real halfcourt offense

They're 27th in SOS (strength of schedule). While their assist numbers are impressive, we haven't really seen them do it yet against contenders. Their most impressive win was against Boston on opening night at home, they just had a great blowout win against Miami, but they have yet to play the Bucks or Raptors. They've mostly been playing against the worst EC teams so far and are 3 - 4 against the West .

Right...meaning we match up very well against the Sixers. Our game is strong defense and scoring on the transition, and we can absolutely do that against Philly. The thing about Philly is they are not exactly a top 3pt shooting team, on average they make 10 a game. As long as a team is not lighting up LA beyond the 3pt line...we basically got the game on lock.

Our interior defense is the best in the league. THE best. They will be forced to kick it out and shoot threes/long 2's, in which case we more than likely will be able to crash the glass and run the transition.

We match up very well with Philly. I'd say a healthy Toronto from the east would be our toughest opponent matchup wise.
