View Full Version : So wait... Why didn't Lebron make the playoffs in 04', 05' or 19' again?

He wasn't too old, aka 40 years old like Wizards' MJ - Lebron was an elite athlete for each of the 3 years he missed the playoffs.
And those 3 teams were all lottery teams the prior year - so Lebron couldn't carry a lottery team to the playoffs - he only made the playoffs with good teams/high seeds that were seasoned for several years via roster additions and coaching changes (2006), and therefore his carrying ability with truly bad teams is overrated (he missed playoffs with the bad teams)... Tell me how I'm wrong
Sure he won 66 with Mo Williams, but Mo was added to a high seed that was already one of the best teams in the East... and Dirk won 67 with no cast in the West, so that's better than Lebron's 2009 anyway.. Ultimately, good win totals in the regular season don't mean the team was carried - it means the team was good (talent-wise and/or brand) relative to the other teams in the league.
And btw, Lebron's record when he played was only .500 for all 3 lottery seasons (lottery level), so I don't want to hear shit like "38 wins wasn't good enough to make the playoffs like MJ did" - Lebron simply gets lottery-level wins with bad teams just like any other great player did, hence him with lottery-level results in those 3 years - every other year he had a good team/high seed.
Essentially, Lebron never had a bad team/low seed in the playoffs, so he never faced the 8 vs 1 matchup like MJ, who was good enough to carry lottery teams to the playoffs and therefore faced underdog matchups in the 1st Round (Lebron's high seeds were always favored in the 1st Rd)

Mate. Give it a rest.
He was a kid in 04, and he was injured last year. This is known. No one thinks twice about it. Except you.

Funny. Kobe and Odom were injured in 05 yet I always hear insecure Bronsexuals bring up Kobe missing the playoffs in 2005 as a major point in the "He's not as good as LeBron" discussions.
Funny how all that changes when its your boyfriend...

This
If it was the weak 80s and 90s ball then maybe 30 wins would get a playoffs spot like in MJ's day when he made the playoffs with a 30-52 record :lol

Imagine your conference final opponent being a Celtic team lead by a rookie Jayson Tatum. And then talking about weak eras... :lol

Lebron had the East all-star center on his team in 2004 and 2005, yet missed the playoffs - that's pathetic - he missed the playoffs with good supporting talent (he also had a 14/10 PF)

Because the NBA did move past the dark ages...30-52 teams don't make the playoffs anymore like they did with MJ's Bulls.
MJ made the playoffs three years with a losing record :lol
New thread idea? The Pre Pippen MJ era was ugly
https://i.postimg.cc/J4Ps0CjR/the-MJ-era.png
1985: 38-44
1986: 30-52
1987: 40-42
3 straight years with a losing record and a 1st round sweep
Pippen shows up and wow. MJ can win games now...Interesting[/QUOTE]

Jordan had a losing record 33% of the time, LeBron just 12%.

At the same age Jordan was 3rd fiddle IN COLLEGE! Not even the 2nd best player on his team.. IN COLLEGE.
Now THAT's pathetic, much like yourself
Keep in mind that Lebron was 20 during the 2005 season, yet missed the playoffs with an all-star center teammate
Meanwhile, other 20 year-olds like Magic were winning FMVP... :facepalm

Who has far more turnovers on the last possession - MJ or Lebron?
