View Full Version : Which playstyle elevates your team more?

1) Playing within the flow of the game and not unnaturally forcing every offensive play to go through a single person allowing just that one person to accumulate stats while marginalizing everyone else leading to more losses than wins but instead taking what the defense gives you and allowing your teammates to get into their rhythm by playing to their strengths and allowing them to truly feel part of the team victory.
2) Forcing every single offensive possession to go through you and forcing everybody to adapt to your playstyle no matter what. Nobody else on your team is allowed to try to make a play and there is no player or ball movement allowed. Unless you're running a PnR with me you're doing nothing other than standing behind the 3pt line waiting for my forced assist leading to more losses than wins.
Which playstyle do you think is better for a leader and #1 option of a team?
Also, which styles stats should be taken more seriously?
Thank you.

First option is boring. It's safe. It's elevator music. It's Will Smith rapping. It's a sandwich with the borders cut off. It's pussified oldies entertainment.
Option 2 on the other hand is more like it. It's like an Arnold movie. Nothing like watching a superhuman alpha male toss a merry band of hapless, beta, scrubs on his back and take them to the apex. Using his stiff "arm" to sodomize and/or impale anyone and anything in his way. Now that's entertainment. Le****ingGOAT. OP is a phaggit.

2. It's how the Jazz used to play when they should have played 1 and now that that Rubio isn't their 2nd option and they have Bojan, Conley etc. they are going mostly through Mitchell :wtf:

Which play style has won the most rings
That answers your question
elementally morale

Depends on your personnel. If you have Shaq you go with number 2. If you have Duncan+Manu+Parker you go with number 1.
A better question is which playing style do we as fans prefer. And I think it depends on who we happen to root for. At that particular time.

Easy, just look at Kyrie Pre, With, and now Post Lebron.
Kyrie
Pre LBJ = 2012, 2013, 2014 Kyrie = zero playoff appearances and zero series wins
With LBJ = 2015, 2016, 2017 Kyrie = 3 playoff appearances and 10 series wins
Post LBJ = 2018, 2019 = 1 playoff appearance and 1 series win
2016 Kyrie had every Lebron hater jizzing on themselves, hailing Kyrie as the goat player and "even better than LeBron himself"
Talk about elevation
Fast forward to last year's Boston vs Milwaukee playoff series and in 4 straight games Kyrie scored 19 on 35% fg and had a ORtg of 90

Actually, the 2nd option never wins - literally - it's never won except for when Lebron team-hopped for 3 rings..
(Magic wasn't the highest ranked player on his team - Kareem is viewed as the superior player and Magic played off KAJ much of the time)
Otoh, the first option has all the rings and is infact much more exciting than losing basketball designed around 1 guy making all the plays.

The 2nd option turns everyone into spot-up shooters, which doesn't develop players or teams, and therefore needs to team-hop for ready-made teams/stars to win...
So team-hopping for ready-made stars is the only time that otherwise cancerous style has ever won... Lebron simply avoided the career-losing fate of his fellow ball-dominators like Nash/CP3 by team-hopping for the extra talent the style needs to win
hope that helps

Actually, the best offenses ever are the 17' Warriors and 91' Bulls - those are the first and second-highest team ortg's ever
Lebron's best teams had the #26 and #46 ortg's ever, so nowhere near "greatest offenses ever"..
you guys are just liars at this point - you can't post actual stats or rankings like I always do, because they won't back up your argument.. so you just lie and hope no one calls you on it.. :facepalm

Nope if you use adjusted ortg which is more accurate Nash led the 3 greatest offensives ever

interesting take.

Zero rings with that style, except for team-hopping
Ultimately, the 1 ball-dominator and 4 shooter setup is the most basic and beatable way to play ball - defenses get REALLY good at defending this setup by the 4th quarter, which is when Nash, CP3 and Lebron's teams typically falter in the playoffs
A great example is the 14' Finals - the Spurs weren't the first or last team to randomly "get hot" against Lebron-ball, because all his Finals loss ended with the opponent winning the last 3 games and running away with the series..
so all indications show that style doesn't apply effective pressure at the championship level to win the attrition battle against teams that are moving the ball well and applying MORE pressure - his worn-down team can't get hot as easily as the team that's handling the pressure/comfortable defensively, and therefore able to go off offensively.
tldr - nash-ball, Lebron-ball, etc isn't a strong enough offense to win the attrition battle at the championship level

But his style isn't superior (it's the same as cp3/nash), so he still loses at the championship level like they do.
He only won via team-hopping for the extra talent that they never had - if CP3 or Nash had prime wade/bosh, they'd go 3/4... If they had Kyrie/Love, they would go at least 1/4 like Lebron (assuming no injuries, they win in 2015 and enter 2016 as juggernaut favorites)

It's the NBA
Both options work depending on personnel.
Winning is perceived differently. Multiple Championships are winning and a little luck.
Both systems have gotten teams deep in the playoffs to be competitive

Theres a childish agenda with this thread. Some of you guys are like women fighting for your man who's happily smashing other girls not thinking about your ass lol.
The whole purist basketball agenda is as pathetic as the intersectional feminist and SJW schtick.
Some people have to feel smart by trying to make others dumb.
But his style isn't superior (it's the same as cp3/nash), so he still loses at the championship level like they do.

blah blah blah
you don't know shit. your theories are all wack. talent wins in the NBA.

Wait. You're telling me that not only did LeDong accomplish this RARE feat. He did so on MULTIPLE teams? :applause:
Look. I get it. You want to watch a bunch of guys share the basketball, have some fun, have a heart to heart after the game about what lessons they've learned and the friends they made along the way, while their feminist coach tells em it's OK to succ a dicc every now and then. I just want to watch a Rambo movie where he's got a machine gun for a dicc. We're all different and that's OK. If anything we need more people like you on this planet. We have a goddamn population crisis.
