Prices have come down so dramatically the last sevearl years. I bought a 55" TCL 4K HDR like two years ago for $415. This year I got a 65" TCL 6-Series QLED 4K HDR with a way better panel for $700.\
These types of TVs were thousands of dollars just a few years ago. Technology and price are starting to trickle down.
Plus my 55" TV I got two years ago still works 100%. No defective flaws at all, still have the original box. Sold it for $200, made almost half my money back. For someone looking to upgrade from a cheapo 32" or 43".

Because they buy shit tier TVs and think they need to upgrade.
You buy an 8 series Sony, and you will be set for years. The Sony X930E, which was released in Nov 2016 (I believe) shits on a lot of these newer TVs

Many people buy shit tier TVs because of pricing. Or you can slowly upgrade over time and sell the old TV for a discount and make some of your money back along the way besides dropping a grand or two on a top tier TV. Sometimes more. Honestly I don't love TV that much to drop thousands of dollars at once. Some people do though. To each their own.

They're so cheap I can't help myself :oldlol:
I got the Insignia 58" 2160p Smart UHD with the free gen 3 Alexa echo dot for $199 from Best Buy. I was thinking of putting it in the kitchen but my gf convinced me to sell it to a family member in need. :ohwell:
I'm keeping the Echo Dot though lol

I gave away my 37 incher that I bought 10 years ago. I have a projector and I hadn't even turned the TV on for months. Plus my coworker is broke. I told him to buy me lunch and we're good. Now I have a TV stand that just takes up space :lol

No, it's usually poor people putting priorities out of order. Like those people who ride the bus and have no car, and live in low income housing on food stamps...but they have that iPhone 11 Pro though with the $250 AirPod Pros. They could literally buy a good beater car for the amount of money spent on the phone+earbuds.

Too be completely honest with you. I would've gotten a 75" over my 65", but the legs on the TV are too wide to fit my TV stand that is 58" wide. I don't feel like wall-mounting it because the placement is't nice.

well off people aren't rotating their TV's every 12 months, you get stable by being smart and not making those type of investments

I paid $1200 new for my Samsung UN65KS8000 back in 2016 and you can't find it today for less than $750 used. I didn't buy the OLED at the time because the input lag was higher.
People today see 4k black friday and they jump on it without even checking to see if it's OLED or HDR10, thinking they have the best 4k set out there. :oldlol:

I have an oled 4k tv with hdr10. I rarely use it tbh, it's easier to just watch the mandolorian and watchmen on my pc.
It's not like these aps are airing high quality content anyways. HbO compresses the sh1t out of their content.

While it's true that a 65 inch TV has a better picture than a 65 inch projection, it also takes up a lot more space. I actually project onto my wall, I set up an 84 inch screen. It's not 4K but 1080p is good enough for me until I upgrade and get a mancave. It makes sports and movies enjoyable to watch. The best projectors could get you a scene like your theater. Of course lighting is an issue too. But that's the dream.

Sony OLED is sexy.
I got a nasty discount on the A1E back in 16, and ended up flipping it. Made a pretty penny on it but partially regret it.
Still love my X930E

I know it is. I lived in the ghetto in Cincinnati from when I was born until 19. We were like the only white family within 2 blocks. Back then it would've been something else because smartphones didn't exist then.

Also The Mandalorian isn't even true HDR on Disney+ streaming right now. It's fake HDR. Analysts tested it and the nits brightness only gets up to like 200 nits...which says it's SDR. HDR goes up to 400+. Usually around 700 on explosions and stuff.
I still have to watch stuff on my TV though. I don't fully enjoy it on a 15" laptop screen attatched to a budget $350 Acer LCD panel.

Yes in Over-The-Rhine, the center of where the riots started back in 2001. Avondale was pretty bad too, but I never went there in fear or getting beat up. :lol
I lived one block from Findlay Market, right near the OTR Community Center.
Back in the 90s OTR was rated the third worst neighborhood to live in the U.S. in terms of violent crimes per capita.

I went to visit my half-sister last year. That place is GREATLY improved since I lived there in the 90s and left in 2004. Back when I lived there there were tons of buildings condemned and boarded up all along Vine Street which ran from the center downtown Cincinnati right through the ghetto northbound. There was like a barrer. You'd drive from downtown going north and see all these nice business and buildings, then within two blocks it turned full ghetto.
Drug pushers on the corners, tricks tricking, etc.

Sony prices are on par with Samsung, and both are mot expensive than LG because both are superior. The Sony A8G (iirc) is on an entirely different echelon than the Samsung Q9.
And yes, LG does make the displays as they are the only product of OLEDs (at least we're when I sold and installed home theater), but Sonys processing is something else.
Sony's double processor is just amazing to allow your picture to upscale as much as possible without sacrificing any smart features or anything else.
The Sony OLEDs having Dolby Atmos off the screen is also unbeatable.

I’m pretty sure Samsung doesn’t do OLED. I want to say LG invented the technology and Sony pays rights to use it in their screens.
The LG and Sony OLED’s were similar prices, I think with the sales the Sony might have actually been cheaper. I don’t care what you say, the Sony looked better.
Vizio’s are ass.
Samsung uses QLED, which is cheaper and still looks great. LG's OLED only looks better in the black portions because the pixels can completely turn off. OLED is better but certainly more expensive.
The high end Vizios are not ass afaik. I think it is the Quantum series or something. I don't own one of their high ends but I heard about it. My bedroom 36" TV is from Vizio and it is junk from 2015 but it was cheapest I could find back then at Costco for $200 :oldlol: . Speakers are horrible. Still, that's not the case with their high-end stuff
Sony has always been the Apple of TVs even when Sony was the best tv company in the 90s and 00s. They rip you off.

it's more than enough....... bigger is not better, on the contrary.
pixel density and all that.
get a smaller TV and sit closer to it, with a huge TV you have to move way further back..... it's the same shit. big TV uses more electricity as well.
i fail to see the appeal,.
