superduper

Because Kobe didn't care about empty stat padding to fool the casuals. He was just a true purist of the game and cared solely about winning.

2009 to 2013 lebron was a better defender than any version of Kobe.

DPOY runner up twice and was the rightful winner one if those times. Kobe was never close to this level.

Kobe was a great defender. If he hadn't been such an inefficient chucker on offense, he would have a real shot at a top-11 spot.

OH WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN!!

Pretty simple

There's far greater depth of elite defenders at the F-C position the past 2 decades than their were at the Guard, especially Shooting Guard

Unlike MVP, which bundles all positions together

Lebron cares to much of what people think, which is beta, but he still hella good. Kobe never gave a fiick. Missed a bunch of shots, also made a bunch of shots, but was never scared of the moment, which is alpha. Which is why most people still pick Kobe over bron. Last shot, miss or make, win or lose, Kobe taking it. Lebron would pass it. Call it want you want, lebron making the better basketball play or whatever, but Kobe

Kobe was better at lockdown, staying in front of his man on defense, although he hacked a bit. Kobe put in more effort on defense than LeBron has. Probably not as adept at playing the passing lanes as LeBron is. Kobe is undisputed second or third best defensive two in the sport's time.

They're both great defenders in there primes. Kobe was better on ball and lebron was better off ball. At the end of the day I'd probably take Kobe if I had to choose. I can't help but think of teenager kobe chomping at the bit to guard and be guarded by mj. Then u have bron who in his prime seemed like he wanted no part of Kawhi.

Kobe portrayed a fake tough guy persona despite growing up in affluent European neighborhoods. He wanted desperately to be known as the 'ruthless cold-blooded killer' instead of the sheltered suburban bitch that he was.

All that to say, if you think Kobe didn't care what people thought, you probably need to take a course in human psychology. Kobe cares more deeply about what people think than just about any other player in history. Jordan being the other deeply insecure, desperate to prove himself wannabe badass of his day.

both of them are soft at the core and would lose in a fight to the death against LeBron. You're right about Kobe, wrong about Mike.

Mike is a middle class kid from a hard working wrench-turning pops.
LeBron is a mentally a broad. He's just on on steroids, not actually mentally a killer.
He's bigger than Mike and Kobe, but mike would psychologically win the fight before it started, unless Bron could take it to the ground and use side control ground and pound at 272lbs.

There is also a 1.8% chance you are LeBron James.

6.3% ?

'After going 0-for-5 from the floor with a turnover when guarded by LeBron James in Game 4, Derrick Rose struggled against him once again Thursday, going 1-for-10 with two turnovers in Game 5. Rose shot 6.3 percent from the floor in the series when defended by James, lowest among any player that defended him on five or more plays.'

I hear u but rose was a very one dimensional player. He was always gonna be a regular season star. He couldn't shoot so he was always gonna struggle in the playoffs where the game slows down and the lanes get much tighter. All lebron had to do was give him space and force him to shoot. He actually defended rose the same way iggy guarded bron in 15. Just give him the jump shot and if he drives everyone collapses. It's pretty easy actually when the guy your guarding doesn't trust his shot and he doesn't have any help.

Unfortunately, unlike LeBron, Kobe was never anywhere near winning a DPOY award and never considered the best defender in the league.

Because of his size and superior athleticism, and because of his ability to defend 1-through-5, LeBron James was considered by most to be a far better defender than Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan.

Also, the head coaches voted for all-defense up until 2014. Had they been allowed to keep voting after that, LeBron would be on his 11th All Defensive team.

Whole post wrong in its entirety. I’ll dispute that all day. There have been crazy athletic shooting guards with a better mind for good defense than Kobe.

I don’t see why Kobe would be better on defense than Drexler, or Wade. Let alone a freak like Tony Allen, or his mental and physical superior in Jordan.

Jerry West was very likely a better defender as well.
When LeBron was the same size as now but a young man in Cleveland and had the mobility of a guard he blew Kobe away defensively and did way better in every facet of defense than Kobe was capable of. Everything mentally and physically. LeBron’s a much more disciplined player and had a far higher motor and level of endurance as athlete than Kobe ever did.

Kobe was a lockdown man defender who routinely guarded the other teams best perimeter player.

Nobody ever "embarrassed" Kobe in the playoffs.

Where as Lebron has had shit dumped on him quite a few times in the playoffs by durant, old iggy, and young kawhi.

Where as Lebron has had shit dumped on him quite a few times in the playoffs by durant, old iggy, and young kawhi. It's not a 1v1 game. Basketball is a team sport.

The Cavs (not LeBron) got shitted on because in 2017, LeBron had Kyrie while Durant had Steph.

In 2018, LeBron had Love while Durant had Steph once again.

In 2015, LeBron only had Kyrie for 1 game and for the rest he had Mozgov and J.R Smith. LeBron had Mozgov and J.R Smith while Curry had Klay and Iggy.

Let me make it clear. No one shitted on anyone.

The Cavs (not LeBron) got shitted on because the Cavs didn't have a supporting cast or core up to par to what the Warriors possessed. So quite naturally it happened that the superior team (GSW) shitted on the inferior team (Cavs)

Why did Paul Pierce was losing in the POs 4X before he got Allen and Garnett? Why did LeBron didn't win until he got Wade and Bosh?

Oh. Basketball is a team sport.

LeBron annihilates Kobe in career points won for Defensive Player of the Year, 534 to 134.

Kobe’s peak defensive year does not even rank in LeBron’s top 4

Below is a nice and clear way to see the difference between LeBron and Kobe when it comes to Defensive Player of the Year support over their careers.

Unlike LeBron, Kobe was never a contender for the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Kobe’s peak defensive year does not even rank in LeBron’s top 4.

Kobe > LeBron defensively.

Nobody thinks that though. Same reason why no one thinks Kobe is a better defender than Pippen or Jordan, despite having more All-Defensive selections.

Kobe had low defensive peaks whereas Pippen, LeBron and MJ were all DPOY candidates - MJ winning 1 and LeBron winning 2 from the coaches vote.

Jordan actually finished 1st by the coaches in 1993 as the top defender and 2nd by the sportscaster. At the 1:22 to 1:32 mark of video.

Look at how awful the cavs were on defense with Lebron in the 2nd stint. This was supposedly peak LBJ defensively...

Look at the 2014 heat how they laid down and got blown out in record fashion, ran a train on.

Kobe's good teams always competed and played defense. There was no flopping or sissiness involved.

That happened to Kobe legitimately every elimination game after the 3peat. And unlike LeBron he always played like ass

the spurs ran train far more than just game 5.

They literally broke a record against the big 3 heat that were supposed to be a bill russell dynasty.

and made the man hop to another spot.

what it comes down to is Lebron is an average man defender, and poor leader / competitor. He's the most "punk-able" GOAT.

I still remember when jordan got sweeped buy pistions in 88,dude ****ing sucked, ball and hog and cant defend
He didn't get swept he lost in 5 games against a team that was the favorite. Lebron lost in 5 games to the 2014 Spurs despite having 2 other stars on his squad and being the preseason favorite and getting handled by an old ass team.

Pretty good! Lebron got empty numbers that series. Already down 20 at the half gets 16 in the 3rd quarter on 7/8 and still down 20. We let him get that because we knew he couldn't beat us.

What Lebron average apart from empty stats when Spurs were up 20+ already?

Very weird that instead of answering a very simple question you choose to instead answer a question with a question. All I wanna know is how those two stars performed in the series, you said they were very good, all I'd like is to see proof of that. Let's see if you directly answer that or continue to deflect with your next post
