View Full Version : Prime Jordan would average 40 in today's game

Without having to take threes. The spacing, the rules favoring perimeter players, the lack of rim protection, and how badly Jordan would abuse players in the midrange game means he gets 40. If you think Harden or Westbrook have a quick first step, you haven't watched Jordan play.

Of course he would shoot threes, and would be good enough at it, because Michael Jordan would practice that shot like every other scorer does today. But he wouldn't have to if you replace Zach Lavine with a time travelled MJ from his physical peak.

Demar put up 21-6-6 on 48% fg and 16% 3p

That is MJ's ceiling in the modern era

Prime MJ would never struggle against Terry & Barea

If Jordan played today...he'd be smart enough to understand he'd need to take some 3's.

He could but he wont win rings gunning for 40 a night.

It depends on if hes playing within a system like the triangle or hes playing a ball dominant role like bron, harden and luka. He could easily score 40 plus in this era but he wouldn't win as much that way.

Let's just replace Lavine with Jordan on this year's Bulls for sake of argument. He has the green light to light it up every night.

Sure, he could see what Luka and Harden are doing, and combine that with his superior midrange and rim game, similar to Kawhi except much better at drawing fouls. But for sake of argument, he could get 40 while being Ben Simmons from three on the 2019 Bulls in place of Lavine.

Jordan with spacers next to him, he would be attacking the paint all day all night.Rim protection was higher level in 1990s.

No hand checking. Good luck keeping him from the rim

I just watched Luka today blow past the entire Lakers defense dribbling from the three point line to dunk it. Now imagine MJ out there.

Anyone that says MJ is Demar should literally be straight up ban on the spot.

What a ****ing stupid take like you need to be some special sort of out of touch of reality to even remotely believe that.

Unfortunately Jordan wasn't a elite facilitator like the one of a kind Doncic's, Lebron's, Harden's of the world who can score at will while also controlling pace and being a floor general playmaker. Elevating any malnourished rosters and coaching staff to consistent contenders, almost immediately

MJ similar to the Kobe's/Tmac's, would nest high scoring games at the expense of team success and a lottery bids/early exits for the majority of his career

At least it's better than comparing Wilt to Javale McGee. :lol

You must've missed the stretch where they played him at pg and he had a string of triple doubles.

excellent point

the time he was actually forced into a position facilitate the offense Bulls were a mediocre 40 win team and got pinned up against the showers by Joe Dumars

flashes of a light Russell Westbrook

Well in that case then yeah he could score 38-43 pts id say. On good efficiency too.

So? Harden is doing that now. Averaging 40ppg during this current age is nothing if you are ball hogging enough.
