Or what trajectory is he on to challenge for GOAT?

Longevity?

If he 3-peats with his current stats then he'd have a case, but he won't, because he isn't goat or capable of that.

But yes, 3-peating is the standard for goat accomplishment, or a 6+ ring count.

I'm pretty sure he'd need at least an offensive skillset that includes midrange to 3-peat, or he could team-hop for extra/unfair talent like Lebron.

No but it would put him on pace to do it at a very young age.

Hard to say. Lukas offensive numbers are a little inflated because of the rules and era but even with that theyd probably be better overall. The problem is second year mj was still a beast on the defensive end and luka right now isnt very good defensively. So if u factor in the huge gap in defence like you should mj is better.

Mirror jordans career? Hell no. In offensive stats maybe. He wont have close to as many chips and he'll be nothing like him on the defensive side of the ball.

it was a joke. in poor taste. I'm probably not going to make that joke again.

luka is a beast. I don't want to get ahead of myself though. you do have to admit how advanced luka is for his age which is incredible. got that NBA range already.

Oh definitely. I actually like him alot. His skill and confidence is insane for his age. I just dont think hes gonna be on MJ's level.

Jordan wasn't anywhere near these numbers when the media (and therefore the fans) started calling him "undisputed goat". He was only at around 2-0 with 2 FMVP's, which shows much these BS "GOAT" matters are based on the athlete's marketability. Doncic could go 10-0 with 10 FMVP's and the media (and therefore the fans) still wouldn't call him GOAT if he doesn't sell at least as much as Jordan.

If that actually happens, sure.

Not really a chance in hell of that happening. He'd have to put on some extreme heroics in the playoffs year after year with this current Mavs squad (which has a lot of good players that I like, but lacks contender level talent).

You kinda have to be the best player on your team to be GOAT.

He was in 2001 and 2002. Closer and best defensive player for all 3 runs, led all of his title teams in assists as well.

He would have won all 3 FMVPs had the WCF been the Finals as well, he let Shaq dominate the weak EC and closed when he needed to.

And LeBron would have have won in 09 and 10 if he had Kyrie instead of Mo Williams, leaving Kobe ringless without Shaq.

If, if, if. That’s all you have cuz you know Shaq was better.

I like how you’re claiming Kobe was better than Shaq in the 02 playoffs considering he averaged 26.6/5.5/5.5/1.5/0.4 on 51.1 TS% while Shaq averaged 28.5/10.7/3.0/0.6/2.0 on 56.9 TS%

Also, lmao at Kobe winning MVP of the 2002 WCF. He put up 27.1/6.3/3.9/1.4/1.1 on a pathetic 49.1 TS%. Meanwhile, Shaq put up 30.3/13.6/1.6/0.4/2.4 on 56.3 TS%.

Saying he should have won MVP of the 2000 WCF seems silly as well when he put up 20.4/4.9/5.9/1.6/2.1 on 55.2 TS% to Shaq’s 25.9/12.4/4.3/0.1/1.9 on 55.0 TS%

Not to mention Kobe got outscored by Austin Croshere in the 2000 Finals. 'Tis true.

Worst player of all time, if only the Lakers kept Smush Parker instead of him, they could win 3 or 4 with Smush and Gasol easily.

But thats your problem right there your just looking at the numbers. Your comparing numbers from mj's era to this joke of an era defensively. The media and fans werent just saying this about mj because of the numbers they were saying it because of what they were seeing compared to what they've seem before him. I like luka alot. What hes doing especially at his age is very impressive but eye test wise hes not doing anything we haven't seen from other greats before him. Hes has average athleticism, bad defence, average shooting, good finishing, average mid range and post play and he a very good passer and rebounder. His swag and confidence is through the roof also so he definitely has the "it" factor.

And if he won 7 rings to go along with these stats he would absolutely be the goat. He wont though. He may win 1. For the next 2 or 3 years he has to deal with kawhi and pg and the afyer that he'll have to deal with greek.

2nd year MJ barely even played due to injury. And was mins restriction and came off the bench in most of the games. So, objectively, Luka is better in the regular season.

Playoff MJ is where he shined in terms of performance, but the Celts was too much. MJ showed what type of player he really was at the time. And playoff MJ I would say is better than current Luka. Better two way player.

We gott'a see what Luka would do in the playoffs. And as ppl said, it's easier for perimeter players now than it was back then. Despite that, Luka is still impressive.

And if Luka wins at the main guy, he'll definitely has a shot to be up there of the goat tier status. I doubt the Mavs will win this year. Team isn't good enough. But if he does it despite that, then it'll improve on his legacy. Even if his defense isn't as good as his offense, as long as he wins it won't matter as much.

Yeah if he does win will be big but i just dont see it now or ever really. I coukd maybe see him winning one. I just think between kawhi and the clippers and greek it will be hard for him to win. Greek isnt that much older and hes almost as good offensively but way better defensively. Either way it wi be fun to watch it play out.
