I consider it the single greatest title in NBA history.

Me and my boys were yelling at Pau for not grabbing boards in that series but I think deep down we all knew the real problem was Kobe getting lit up on the perimeter so bad that there were no boards to be had :(

No. In fact it’s quite overrated.

Kobe was hurt, and the Lakers were broken down. Gasoft was putrid and gave up.

Miami imploded after dominating as favorites with LeBron quitting or getting locked up by ancient Kidd, Marion or midget car salesman JJ Barea.

And honestly Dirk was like the third best player in those finals. Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler carried them.

SouBeachTalents

From a team/narrative standpoint, you could definitely argue it was

From an individual standpoint, no way in hell could you say Dirk was better than 91-93 Jordan, 94-95 Hakeem, 2000 Shaq, 2003 Duncan etc

Based on what?

2011 Dirk
16.6 GMsc
26 ppg 10 rpg 2 apg

Literally EVERY Jordan Finals is a better performance. Including his worst, 1996. And Gamescore doesn’t even take into account defense.

1991 MJ
29.4 GMsc
31 ppg 7 rpg 11 apg
Held Magic predominantly to 43%

1992 MJ
25.8 GMsc
36 ppg 5 rpg 7 apg
Held Drexler to 41%

1993 MJ
29.6 GMsc
41 ppg 9 rpg 6 apg

1996 MJ
18.5 GMsc
27 ppg 5 rpg 4 apg

1997 MJ
23.4 GMsc
32 ppg 7 rpg 6 apg

1998 MJ
21.4 GMsc
34 ppg 4 rpg 2 apg

Dirk wasn’t even the best player on the floor in his absolute best Finals. And literally his best Finals isn’t even better than Mike’s absolute worst. This is just a measure of offensive production too. Dirk couldn’t guard a stationary object and MJ is basically the best defender ever at his position and hounded limiting efficiency for a Mount Rushmore player in Magic and a top five player ever at his position and next best player at his position in the league with Drexler.

This is a joke if this is your actual non trolling stupid Canadian opinion.

That's the first thing that came to mind for me. In the 2nd round they lost their first two games at home vs the Suns. Came back to win in 7.

They were down 3-2 to the Knicks in the Finals.

The other 4 starters combined only made 1 All-Star game in their careers.

there is absolutely no question that the 2011 championship, is the most glorious & greatest trophy in all of NBA history.... and always will be.

this is not a matter of opinion.... this is a matter of fact.

It was almost bittersweet in the fact that every Mavericks game since, or any NBA game for that matter, is now pretty much irrelevant. I mean... what's the point? The experience we felt will never be as good as it was when we witnessed that playoff run. Never. That is and will always be the defining moment for our franchise... and maybe for the entire league as well.

That was the year the NBA died... nothing has been the same ever since.

Sure, maybe Luka somehow wins multiple championships... but it will still be damn near impossible for him to write a better storyline than the 2011 season. Winning it all at age 20 wouldn't even come close. (and btw, people often forget that Jason Kidd was a big part of that storyline)

The storyline of Luka becoming the undisputed GOAT 15 or 20 years from now may be somewhat comparable to what happened in 2011, but in terms of a single season... impossible to ever be topped.

Wade's implosion makes that ring rather weak

I mean, Miami had no depth, literally the worst role players of all time, a rookie pinoy coach who has proven to be dogshit without lebron, etc. 2011 heat were trash outside of lebron

Wade got jealous because lebron was getting all the attention after carrying miami past chicago and Boston, and so he decided he wanted to be the man at the expense of the team. The rest is history.

Well I think in terms of a storyline... MAVS fan or not.... it's the greatest championship ever.

Jason Kidd comes back to the team that drafted him, We team up with Peja and S.Marion who we had battled against for years, we lose our #2 option in Caron Butler, discover the missing link in Tyson Chandler, Beat Kobe and KD in playoffs, go up against the quote unquote "greatest of all time" in his prime on a Super Team that happens to be the same team that stole our title in 2006.... and it was obviously our last chance at winning a title with Dirk leading the way. There was zero chance of ever being a contender w/ Dirk after 2011. Everything was on the line.

Somebody tell me which team in NBA history has a better story?
