Yeahhhhhh I would wait for back up. Especially if you're having a hard time detaining a dude who is clearly intoxicated.

That, or you tase him. There needs to be an overhaul on training out there. I have no problem with police putting down hardened criminals, but as we see here, the dude's poor Mother is shot due to her inexperience and inability to diffuse the situation.

my first impression is that she the officer entered a house illegally.

No warrant.

The guy that was supposedly a shop lifter acted irrationally which appears to be
on drugs.
Immediately I would of called for backup and waited for backup to come.

Then made an arrest if if warranted it.

That confrontation , and shooting the mother was the officers fault , and should be suspended.

No warrant. There was no need for a warrant since the suspect was approached outside during the arrest attempt. As he retreated inside, officers can follow through the open doorway to finish the arrest. That falls under a "hot pursuit" situation.

she did less than fine. The turning point was when she tried to apprehend him and he got aggressive. all she had to do was wait another minute for backup.

Sad situation. The second she couldn't physically handle the situation she should have stalled for backup. If she just waited a few minutes everything would have been fine. Clearly unqualified.
