Awful

20 million in taxpayer money enough to cover the civil suit coming their way?

Well done Florida PD

I personally liked their use of stopped vehicles with pedestrians as cover. Flawless training

american cops have to be some of the dumbest individuals on earth.

the worst thing about this situation is these same officers will go unpunished and will return to duty.

Father of the dead son (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6gJw9BwUP8)

the dad is well spoken, and i agree with him 100%, it was murder. the police murdered frank.

think about that. and now swallow the harsh reality: these cops will not be punished or held accountable for taking an innocent life. they endangered dozens of other innocent people as well.

and trump just authorized 500 MILLION worth of military weapons and equipment for american police use.

:facepalm

lol. The government can do whatever they want to us and militias with handheld weapons would not be a threat.

A government turning on its people hasn't worked out well throughout history and has little to do with how armed the citizens are anyway. That being said, day by the day, the military's power is becoming more centralized and less reliant on the manpower of its foot soldiers.

Oh and also that's why all police departments should be privatized.

Not only would that be an ethical disaster. It's also an industry that's very easy to monopolize. Actually there's a lot of things that could go wrong with privatized police depts. So you end up in the same shit we have now, just in different formats. The best thing we can do is to just hold our police departments to higher standards. We shouldn't have to vote with our money when we're supposed to be voting with our...you know, vote.

In a fantasy land scenario where every gunholder in the US turned in the government, uh, yeah, you best believe the government is absolutely ****ed.

But we're no where near that happening... US citizens are too fat and happy and they are not even remotely close to being desperate as a collective.

Damn. There are literally more cops on that freeway than civilians. How do the superiors keep control of the sheer amount of cops rushing in on that van? Appears, to a lay person like myself at least, very disorganized.

Besides the UPS driver apparently avdriver in one of the cars was killed as well.

One of the basic rules of handling a gun that every hunter and recreational shooter learns right from the start is don't pull the trigger until the target is on sight and you are 100% sure what's behind the target. I've heard police departments prefer to hire people either with military training or no firearms experience at all because they don't want to have to break the "bad habits" hunters and recreational shooters may have developed.

Or you can simply carry a weapon and protect yourself if you are being brutalized.

That was handled very poorly.

I work for USPS so this hits close to home. I'm going to do my best to not be inside my stolen postal truck.

Pretty shocking stuff, and the video does not help the officers involved at all. It looks like there were a number of violations of proper procedure and I expect there will be an investigation. Our police officers need better training and more stringent mechanisms to hold them accountable when they egregiously veer from their training.

Good take from a tweet I saw:

I hope this opens the conversation about what purpose the police truly serve when they cannot independently make a judgment call that it is better to let a robber (with goods covered by insurance) go rather than spray bullets into multiple humans and cars.

I ****ing hate this shithole state, can't wait to move out. Cops literally used bystander traffic as cover, some of the posters in here trying to justify this are insane.

I'm guessing all it took was one trigger happy cop for the rest to start panicking and follow suit. Either that or a trigger happy commander on scene.

Because there's no way what transpired was policy.

UPS praised law enforcement for their efforts. That's right, when the cops kill you your employer will praise them. SMH

Was pretty pathetic when the police officers were using civilian vehicles as cover.. while civilians were INSIDE their cars. WTF? That's the same as using civilians as a meat shield. :biggums:

that was really fkd up lol but I can see how instinct kicks in .. I mean if someone's shooting at you and you're out in the open, you're gonna try to get behind whatever is closest to you but yeah it's a really bad look .. they should've just let them go or at least strategically follow them stealthily so they don't provoke them in the middle of fkn rush hr traffic :facepalm .. but these mfkers turn into fkn brutes and they won't stop no matter what until they catch up to you even if it's putting others in danger .. we've seen it over and over in these helicopter taped chases .. sometimes the better option is to let them drive off .. let the helicopter keep tracking them until the public is out of danger

That's exactly what should have happened. The perpetrators were in a UPS van... they weren't going to evade the police. Instead of forcing a confrontation on a busy roadway, they should have sought a resolution that did not endanger so many people.

They have concluded that’s a real thing, when one cop starts firing everyone opens up and empties their magazine. I imagine it’s part gang mentality where you don’t strike the first blow but kick him a few times while they are down and your brain rationalizes it as being not as bad. Shared guilt. The other part is cops not wanting to fail to act, ostracized as someone who froze in the big moment. Not wanting to be the one guy who didn’t do anything. Reasons are besides the point I guess. It’s still ****ed. I’m not sure around the rest of the country but here cops are pretty well taken care of in terms of pay, benefits, and pension. They are already a drain but it will require more money to fix it.

The main problem is the police has turned into a paramilitary organization trained to kill us and cover their own ass.

Well to be fair it’s going to be near impossible for cops to get away from the covering their own ass mentality when the populace is armed as heavily as it is.

So do we repeal the second amendment? Nope.

This situation was incredibly mishandled but most police shootings are clean and justified.

People just don’t want to accept that they’re not in control in a confrontation with cops and as such, they misbehave like crazy and then... shit happens.

I can't believe all you sissy bois questioning how the cops handled this situation :facepalm

Strong message sent out to all criminals, just because you think grabbing (a) hostage(s) in a robbery attempt will shield you from the police's wrath doesn't mean you won't be getting a shower of bullets...so go ahead and stupidly grab a couple of 6 years olds, it ain't stopping cops from going ham on you. Using civilian cars as shields :applause:

Alpha af

why didn't they just carjack the kid and let him go smh

These robbers were old school, grabbing hostages used to work, cops treaded carefully when innocent lives were in jeopardy but these new cops don't give a shit...as long as they go home that night, fukk all

The place for fat asses to rage on the internet. You're a business owner and the only thing you're doing with your time and money is buying the newest ford truck and 4k monitors to play call of duty. You may not vote for trump, but you're not any different than the people who did with your me first philosophy. Stop lying to yourself about it.

I'm wondering if it has anything with both cops and UPS being unionized(I realize UPS upper management is not unionized)
