Davis is better than any version of Gasol. Not much better than peak Pau but clearly better. On offense it's close but on defense it's not.

So who do you rank higher?

They're quite equal

Only difference being my Lakers team back then having peak Artest, Bynum, Odom, Ariza, Phil Jackson and our toughest conference competition being Melo

Compared to now where it's 35yo Lebron and FA's signed at the last minute, surrounded by a much tougher conference

So who do you rank higher?

Pau had the better career but he is also a lot older. As for who is better I voted Davis.

For now, obviously Gasol. Davis will undoubtably surpass him though. This of course referring to all time rankings

As far as ability goes, Davis easily

Davis is the better scorer, shooter, rebounder and rim protector, plus he isn't stiff and can actually guard 1-5 and won a Playoff series without Lebron, while Gasol couldn't win a single Playoff game without Kobe.

AD pre-Lebron (age 26)
6x All-Star
3x All-NBA
3x Blocks leader
3x All-Defensive

24/11/2 1.4 spg 2.4 bpg 59%TS

Pau Gasol pre-Kobe (age 27)
1x All-Star
0 All-NBA
0 All-Defensive

19/9/3 0.5 spg 1.9 bpg 56.6%TS

Davis is the better player, but since he's still early in his career, Pau is higher in the all time rankings. I fully expect Davis to pass Pau before his career is finished. Davis already had better peak, but lags in total career value.

Poll options are bad so not voting.

Anthony Davis is discernibly the better player. Not even close really.

Gasoft never matched AD’s offensive and definitely not his defensive abilities. Or AD’s huge numbers. AD is a legit perennial MVP caliber player. Besides Leonard and stretches from PG13, he’s been the best two way player in the league for sometime.

Already the 3rd best PER player ever. A monster on both ends. The prototypical modern day big man.

A stretch 4/5 hybrid.

Dragged shit New Orleans teams to the playoffs while being fairly injury prone. But ran into all time great level stacked juggernauts like the Warriors. No shame in that.

Pre Mamba, Gasol played on well coached and fairly talented Memphis teams but never did jack all with them. Many times I believe he didn’t even make the playoffs with them IIRC

And in the early to mid 2000s was inferior to a loaded PF era featuring KG, Duncan (if considered a PF), Webber, Dirk, and maybe even ZBo / Sheed.

If it wasn’t for him widening up in the absolute perfect position playing alongside the perfect type of superior player / leader with mental toughness in Kobe, even with a long career he wouldn’t be nearly as well regarded NBA wise beyond his FIBA impact on Spain’s golden era of national talent.

It what world is offense close?

Pau was a better passer but that's it. Davis kills him everywhere else even shooting. Pau's not an all-time passing big like KG, Walton, Jokic, Sabonis etc u can run ur offense through. In Memphis their offenses were garbage year in year out and were carried by their perimeter defense

Grizz offensive rating ranked with Pau each year

29th
17th
7th
19th
16th
13th

Just one top 10 finish when they had White Chocolate, Mike Miller and Posey

And Pay in the playoffs as his team's best player is 0-16. Literally cannot win a playoff game if Pau is ur best player

Davis has won multiple playoff games and even has a massive series upset against a much higher seeded team. And his playoff numbers blows Paus away

Paus definitely no offensive anchor but we

Pau deserves to be rank higher by a big big margin...

It is like Pau is already in the top-75 of all time, whereas AD is still knocking at top-130.

BUT Davis is definetely (a decent gap) the better player, and has a good chance to (or we can say inevitably) surpass him in the ranking once AD is finished in his career.

Davis is a better player, but he does not have anywhere near the level of accomplishments at Gasol, so for now Gasol remains higher ranked.

it's like comparing paul pierce to lebron james... 2 different tier players.

Pau is a great player.. AD is a superstar.

12-09-2019, 08:18 PM
based off of AD's career stats/analytics thus far if he has any success whatsoever he'l probly go down as a top 3 player all time to the modern day fan/media member

so even superstar is kind of an insult... AD's a legend in the making

being in LA for the entirety of your prime doesn't hurt either

2012-2013 Dwight Howard >> AD

Pau could not win a single playoff game as a Laker without Kobe in the lineup. Thats how dependent he was on Kobe. Pau never won a playoff game without Kobe in the lineup until he was on the Bulls. And Pau is the guy they say carried the team?

Kobe pre Gasol

2005 - misses playoffs

2006 - barely makes the playoffs and chokes a 3-1 lead in the 1st round

2007 - swept in the 1st round

Kobe with Gasol

2008 - finals

2009 - Championship

2010 - Championship

Guess who led the Lakers in both plus minus and win shares in both 09 and 10?

Gasol transformed a team from first round fodder into championship caliber if that is not superstar caliber i don't know what is

Let's not forget who closed out the Celtics in game 7

Why can't I vote on polls? :wtf:

Anyways, it's Pau by a landslide

Box score nerds will never fully understand impact that Pau had. He was blatantly robbed of 2 FMVP's, but voters only know scoring stats and not overall impact

Pau > Kobe

72-10
12-09-2019, 11:28 PM
AD has significantly more defensive impact than Pau and a better offensive skillset, but Pau has accrued too many accolades for AD to really pass him up at this point in time

so, AD is the better player (though Pau is clearly the better passer and rebounding is pretty close), but I have Pau ranked slightly ahead of AD at the moment, partly due to the fact that Davis hasn't won much yet
