Comcast bill is $110/mo after hikes over past 3yrs. It used to be $85/mo.. Bleeding money for same exact internet speeds and using my own modem. It's outrageous. I suck at negotiating, and I don't want to get into a fight on the phone.. How do you negotiate? Do you ask to speak to a manager? What if customer support refuses? Trying to avoid losing my cool and patience.

You call them direct and tell them you want to cancel and act extremely upset at the service. Complain like Aunt Nancy. But be very firm at saying you want to cancel.

They will lower your bill, guaranteed

Do you have a legit alternate available?

If so, you just switch every year when promos expire.

If not, then you rep shop and keep calling and connecting to retention until you find one that will work with you

make a list of questions before the call and dominate the conversation. interrupt when u know they're feeding u bs. be clear on what u want and be sure about any fine print.

it's hard to win though - they have a hundred and one ways to sucker you. the plans they offer are pretty much set in stone and any tinkering is according to their rules. they'll make u think you're getting a better deal, but you're not saving any money in the end. maybe they'll offer u free hbo and skinemax for three months. or get u to sign a long term deal for a little cheaper of a price.

good luck and get f***ed.

edit: oh wait, this is isp shit? eh **** where's my covfefe

I worked for Comcast Customer Service briefly and they have pages upon pages on a computer screen of promo codes and discounts for every situation. Getting a discount is not a huge problem. Sometimes you can just call to pay your bill and acknowledge that the bill is too high and based on what rep you get, they may just give you one. But threatening to cancel cause you can't afford it always gets you to the top of the line.

With all the competition out there now with streaming and shit, they know what's up.

No alternative. Only have Comcast cable and Verizon dsl. Dsl gives trash 5/5 speeds lol. I don't know if Comcast would know Verizon only offers dsl in my area.

Oh trust me, they do.

Your best bet is to rep shop.

Either that or cancel, and set up a new account under someone else's name to get the new customer promotions.

Yelling doesn't typically work, I've done retention before and Comcast doesn't care about customer satisfaction the way some other companies might. They know they have a foothold over their customer base due to government allowing them to monopolize.
