Jordan is without a doubt the greatest scorer in the last 35 years. In the modern era it would be Durant & Harden. Peak Kobe was also GOAT level. The guy who is going to get overlooked big time in this thread is George Gervin, dude basically averaged 30 points a game for 5 years straight.

Durant is the greatest. No way to stop him and can beat you in every spot on the court. Hes a walking mismatch and can be plugged anywhere, on any team.
Tier 1: LeBron, Harden, Durant
Tier 2: wilt. Jordan, kareem
Tier 3: shaq, bird, west
How is Jordan not tier 1? Lebron an entire tier above jordan?
I mean you could argue the guys above are better, but a whole tier better?

LeBron has the greatest postseason scoring run of all time so it's him
33.6 ppg on 63% TS over the last 43 games

who cares if he's losing by record amount to get those stats, and holding the ball record amount
MJ's 89-91 or 88-93' playoff numbers are better because they essentially match Lebron's last 2 seasons in PER and have higher PPG.... while either winning or overachieving, not losing by record amount and underachieiving (almost losing to bum teams)…
oh, and MJ did it in a much harder era to score - the only reason Lebron's stats increased in the last 2 years despite obvious physical decline is because league defense is all-time bad

well harden's only been historic for 2 years but if he sustains it for awhile sure why not? Wilt had crazy edges over west and the rest of the league for awhile. Durants definitely got a case for now.

Not that I think Harden is actually the GOAT scorer, but ISH has to be the dumbest basketball forum in existence. I wouldn’t take any poll done by us seriously.

no disrespect to the other players, but how can it not be Wilt? Anyone else average 50 pts a game for a season or score 100 points in a game? He toned down his scoring because he was asked to, and concentrated more on the defensive end. And throw the "weak era" out - just answer the above 2 questions - the answer is not one other player.

Kobe:
81
62 in 3 quarters
56 in 3 quarters
9 straight 40+ point games
4 straight 50+ point games
60 in his final game
Highest season scoring average when adjusted for pace
And that's with him sacrificing his scoring to fit with Shaq. Imagine how many more scoring outbursts he would have had he gotten the greenlight to chuck like MGay and LeF*ggot did.

And zero seasons above .469% FG how does that make you feel? Set the record for most missed field goals how does that make you feel? Never had a 40 point Finals game how does that make you feel? LeBron averaged a higher ppg in his ROOKIE playoff series than Kobe's career best. Absorb that burn.

But he can shoot better than anybody ever. And he could drive as good as the best. He can post up too.
Wilt and Jordan are better to me.
One on One I give it to Harden.
One on Two I give it to Jordan,
One on Three I give it to Wilt.

Will set the record for most turnovers how does that make you feel?
On pace to surpass Kobe for most field goals missed if he plays 20 seasons how does that make you feel?

No disrespect to Jordan, who has 10 scoring titles, averaged 33.4 in the playoffs, 33.6 in the finals, and averaged the same (30.2) in the regular season as Wilt?
What Wilt did in the 61/62 season is incredible, but higher pace and the goal was for him to average 50. It's really hard to say for sure, since Wilt stopped focusing on scoring as much for the second half of his career. The thing that tips it in Jordan's favor for me is that Jordan's PPG went up in the playoffs, Wilt's did not.

MJ
Kobe
Durant
You couldn't pray to stop any of those guys without team defense. Everyone else you could contain with just one player.

It's honestly tough to say because depending on criteria this thing swings hard. But I would go with MJ. Too consistent. Kobe and KD might have him beat in explosiveness but MJ was relentless in the sense that he rarely went totally cold the way I've seen Kobe/KD do.
Guys I was just too young to see: Kareem (old man cap don't count), Wilt.
Curry just didn't bring the reliability (which really brings into doubt his success vs tougher perimeter defenses).
Lebron is just not at that level as a pure scorer. Though, his passing game really opens up his scoring (which depending on criteria could rank him differently).
Harden: Deserves a mention but I find him very difficult to evaluate. I don't know how much of it is smoke and mirrors and I feel many feel the same as I do but what he is able to do is remarkable.
