Jordan won more games, 1 game off 70

Bulls were more dominant on offense and defense than Utah with Jordan carrying the load on both ends as the leader

Rodman/Kukoc (Bulls 3rd/4th best players) missed a combined 52 games

all of KarLs main rotations players barely missed a game that season

thoughts?

You don't remember? They were sick of giving it to Mike every year. I mean he won 5 league MVPs in just 11 full seasons (84/85 through 97/98, minus 85-86 (18 games) 93-94 (0 games) 94-95 (17 games).

5 league MVPs in an 11 year span. Wow. How great was Jordan? 6 rings in 11 full seasons, 10 scoring titles, 5 MVPs and 6 FMVP. Plus DPOY, ROTY, All-team defensive 9 times. Wow.

Stockton was the 2nd option... idiots here think ppg = option. Stockton had the ball the most on offense, him and Malone were always the first two options.

Well, Kobricktards like yourself always tell us ppg is all that matters. :confusedshrug:

Inconsistent voting, jordan should have gotten it in 1997 and they could have made case for malone in 1998 where the bulls had a worse record and jordan, through injuries had lower stats

Jordan deserved it for leading the Bulls to 62 wins with Pippen missing half the season.

I can’t find the interview with jordan reacting to malone getting the mvp award. He didnt say anything bad against malone but said it was a strong motivation for him to prove himself in the finals.

this. Pip missed half the season, Kerr missed 30 games, Longley/Kukoc missed 34 combined games

and it was officially the death of Pip being a better defender than MJ. He can guard bigger guys better due to being taller/longer but he still couldnt lock down PFs and struggled mightily against wings with elite first steps like Grant Hill and Penny who routinely torched him

meanwhile Pip misses half the season and the Bulls STILL were a top 3 defense:biggums:

:applause: MJ still the best perimeter defender in the league and a well deserved unanimous 1st team all defense:applause: at 34:eek:

And i dont disagree with 98. Just saying that if they were to give it to malone, it shouldnt have been 97.

'94 Bulls had 3 all-stars, '98 Bulls had one. Jordan was clearly better than '94 Pippen individually so there's that.

Because Hakeem Olajuwon was easily the better player, had better stats and his team had the record-breaking start. That momentum carried over to 58 wins in a tougher conference, solidifying a potent narrative that ended with the MVP award.

So you’re saying MJ ran away and hid from his best competition of the decade?

Its okay, MJ got a make-up MVP in '98, which LeBron hasn't for 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018

MJ shouldn't have been in consideration for any regular season awards after coming back from his 2yr rest up in his prime.

I'm sure other players would have loved to take time off (and still get paid for it) to rest up mentally and physically to rejuvenate themselves.

6 championships
5 MVPs
DPOY (With other top finishes)

How mad are you?

Though you should be GLAD he took that time off. If he didn’t, according to your boy Ben Taylor he’d be the undisputed GOAT with those missing seasons

The MVP doesn't necessarily go to the best player. It is basically a popularity contest in the media.

LostCause

Saying that it's a good thing that he didn't play Hakeem in the finals = shook

Jordan was shook to play Hakeem, Hakeem was 5-1 against MJ from 91-93 MJ knew Hakeem had his number that's why he said what he said

So if he was shook why’d he win a ring during Hakeems peak season statistically then come back the year after Hakeem swept the NBA? (That season Hakeem won his 2nd)

Also you ignored the point about the Jazz. Damn so Utah was as good as Chicahobin 98? So much for that weak comp narrative

Also don’t deflect. How does any of that prove he retired to duck Hakeem? Can MJ predict the future?

I never said he "ducked" Hakeem but he was definitely scared of playing Hakeem in the finals because Hakeem had MJs number (5-1,) and MJ was relieved that he didn't have to play him

I mean you jumped in defending someone who DID say that so it stands to reason you supported that claim

wtf is Chicahobin :oldlol:

I have no idea  Damn autocorrect

The 98 Jazz were weak finals comp, they had no good scorers outside of Malone and their defense was amongst the worst in the league at the time + plus Malone and Stockton were fossils when MJ played then I don't get why you oldheads hype them so much like they're as good as the f*cking Warriors :oldlol: :lol

You just said we should listen to Jordans words about his comp. You said he was afraid of Hakeem, well he also said the Jazz team were the favorites to beat them in 98

"I consider us the underdogs," said Michael Jordan. "We went seven games. They’re rested. They have the home-court advantage. For us, we’re battling things. Age. We’ve been through this so many times you lose focus in pressure situations. It’s human nature. So I consider us the underdogs.”

So if MJ says that Utah team could beat his Bulls team then it must be true. That Jazz team was on their level then

Imagine calling yourself the underdog when you clearly weren't the underdog what a f*cking beta

This is the difference between LeBron and MJ, LeBron never feared his competition and would never in a million years call himself an underdog. How can you be the GOAT and call yourself the underdog what kind of logic is that :oldlol:

It would be like if Lebron went into retirement instead of facing the Warriors. Jordan
