View Full Version : Not enough is made on how bad of a free throw shooter LeBron is late game

LeBron is shooting 63% from the free throw line this year. He's cost the Lakers at least a few games this year with his epic choke jobs at the line.
LeBron has some kind of mental block at the line. He literally runs away from the ball in the closing moments because of how afraid he is of going to the line. That's gotta be a knock on his game. You can force him to the foul line, and more than likely he's not gonna hurt you there.
63% from the foul line is pathetic. In the same way that Westbrook sucks at shooting threes, in the same way that Simmons can't shoot. It's a weakness in his game that anyone can exploit. Nearly a third of a players points come from the foul line. No excuse not to shoot a good percentage there. LeBron's poor free throw percentage needs the same amount of attention as someone who shoots say 40%fg or 20% from three. It's essentially equivalent to that.

63%? He's trending towards Dwight Howard status :facepalm . At least we have AD, who's making them like a true all-time great.

Players just need to remember to not let LeBron get the and 1 on his wide layup attempts. They can do this by holding his forearms down so he can't possibly get the shot up. Make him earn both free throws at the line. He will likely will miss one or both.

Didn't realize its gotten 63% LEVEL BAD.
The ****?
Probably why Bron settles for threes in crunchtime. Driving to the basket equals contact and obviously freethrows.

LOL Southbeach, I said SAME situation meaning being in his second year, in one of the most racists and hostile enviroments in league history in the old Boston Garden, against the 1986 Celtics (maybe greatest team of all time) and Larry Bird at his absolute apex.
LeBald in the O'rena against the 2009 Magic and Dwight friggin Howard doesn't even come close!

That Celtics team was terrible. A team of White American All-Stars? I truly believe prime Lebron could beat that team going 3 on 5 (1 guy in each corner and Lebron at the top of the key Globetrottering whoever the Celts put on him). The fact that that team is glorified today, is not only an insult to modern basketball but just goes to show how we're not yet ready to have an honest discussion about pre-modern era basketball.

Beautiful to see the ignorance from people who really did not experience that era. The 86' Celtics were the best in a league full of uber athletes. Their basketball IQ and fundamentals were just off the charts and in that era the rules allowed those teams to be physical and overwhelm supposed better "athletes".
The mid to late 80's had
Magic and Showtime Lakers
Isiah and Bad Boy Pistons
Hakeems Rockets
Wilkins Hawks
Jordan's Rockets
Barkley's Sixers
Ewing's Knicks
Drexler's Blazers
Moncrief Bucks
Malone's Jazz
All those lineups were full of SMART, tough, fundametally sound black athletes unlike today were you have the NBA full of AAU poisoned low IQ, fundamentally flawed babies that have had every rule in the book altered to favor offense and athleticism. Here's Kobe talking about this and basically throwing LeBaldo's NBA era down the crapper:

LOL, no decade gets disrespected as much as this present one even by superstars who played in it. Unbelievable!
LeBron is a player for THIS soft era, he doesn't translate to any other.

This is full of objectionable information but the one that really irked me was "tough". The league was almost exclusively American at that point and Americans are the softest people on the planet (and possibly even beyond...?). This is an established fact by the UN statistics database. White Americans are the softest of the bunch. That's just what happens when the greatest adversity you face growing up is obesity.
Also, few of these guys could actually play basketball. Pushing and shoving were the main skillsets of the day in this George HW Bush league.

Bird's one of the smartest players in league history, he would force James into jump shots.
