Right now a lot of fans and media are putting Lebron ahead of Kareem and some dare to even put him neck and neck with His Airness. But Lebron is playing now, the media is sucking up to him and the NBA to stay in the inner circle. But once he's gone, if he hasn't reached the 5(+) x 5(+) club for MVPs and rings, can there be any doubt that his star will lose its luster and he'll be in the mix with Bird and Magic for the 3-5 spot.

Recency bias is a real thing. I remember people putting Garnett, Iverson and Tracy McGrady as top 15 players of all time. But just a few years after they retired, they ain't in that convo anymore. Hell look at Kobe, when he was in his prime, people were putting him as a top 4-7 player but now he's pretty much a consensus 11-13 spot.

If Lebron doesn't get any more chips, can there be any doubt he's fading back as time goes by. Especially considering he's been a one side of the court player most of his career?

Hahahahah

And yes op....I've always thought this....

Once the roidhead had retired and the manufacturing stops, the truth will leave him where he belongs....somewhere between top 5 and 20

McGrady was a bad mutha in his short peak, looked for sure he'd be among the greats before he the injuries took their toll. He wasn't an elite defender but then again neither was you know who.

Love it or hate it, there are no 10-11 players better than Kobe.

Honestly most people have MJ and Kareem as 1 and 2.

Then you have magic bird bill russell off his accomplishments

Then you have Hakeem duncan lebron

Then you have the rest.

I've always thought lebron is top 5-7.

Lebron's legacy will not only have to deal with a fading recency bias but also the fact people just don't like him that much other than the front runners who will quickly start abandoning him next year as his decline becomes more pronounced.

Most respect players of all time are

MJ
Kobe
Magic
Bird
Russell
Wilt
Jerry West

Most likable players today are

Luka
Zion
Boban
Klay
Curry
Rose
Caruso
Stephen Adams

Lebron isn't on either of these lists. His Space Jam failure is just the latest sign his legacy is going to take a massive hit soon. It won't be storybook ending for poor Bron unfortunately :(

Can't imagine kids wanting to learn basketball and watching hours of lebron clips in the future. You've seen one move, you've seen it all. I just don't think 10 years down the line people would appreciate him as much. He'll be on the lists but when they watch him play, it'll be like meh. Like karl malone.
