I'm talking about the old school ones with Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, John Wayne etc. I cringe every time I see that Casablanca "here's looking at you, kid" scene. Never watched that movie, never watched Gone With The Wind nor Citizen Kane nor any John Wayne movie. James Cagney sucks so bad as an actor, who the hell talks and acts that way in real life?
Movies started getting decent in the mid 60s or so, everything before that, which some notable exceptions, sucked.
Any fans here of that era?

I've never been able to sit though any of those old movies. Pedro Infante is total garbage too.

I thought Casablanca was pretty freaking good. It's interesting to see how much of it has been stolen by other media and how often. Yeah, some of the quotes are cringey, but I think that's because we've heard em so much.
Hitchcock movies are amazing.
Audrey Hepburn was an actress that's just screams sexuality. Chick was hotter because of the way she acted moreso than her appearance. She was very attractive, but this is a sum is greater than individual parts type deal.
Checked out Citizen Kane and thought it was about the most boring flick I've ever seen. Has to be some "first movie to ever do this type stuff" that makes it so special, because I thought the story was zzzzzzzz. Although, watching it also shows how much other media has stolen from it as well.
There's some good stuff out there. Just requires a bit of patience.

I agree completely, never watched any of those old school movies from the supposed Golden Era of Mexican Cinema :facepalm They were just as bad as the Hollywood ones, if not worse.

I prefer the music of that era over the films.

Movies from that time have the best supernatural/ghost stories.
Portrait of Jennie
Dead of Night
Here Comes Mr. Jordan
The Picture of Dorian Gray
A Christmas Carol
It's a Wonderful Life
If you like humor with more wit than vulgarity then the comedies of that time are also notable.
The Court Jester
A Night at the Opera
It's a Gift!
Monsieur Beaucaire
Kind Hearts and Coronets
Rolando

Here's a great movie that I highly recommend. The General with Buster Keaton. It is actually a silent film but, as you will see, it is quite excellent and packed with action.
