aka the toughest and least efficient shot allocation that today's game fears/avoids
so previous eras basically match today's ortg despite taking far tougher shots .... :facepalm
that proves they were superior
if we gave guys like Bob McAdoo a bunch of teammates and strategy to space the floor and take easier shots, who knows how many points he would've averaged

They match today' ortg while facing yesterday's shit defenders? Wow! That is a neat statistical coincidence isn't it?

ortgs remained the same despite the lack of spacing because guys were experts at making 2-pointers on superior rim protection and closer help defenders... :confusedshrug:
ultimately, the lack of spacing (lack of 3-pointers) forced players to make shots on defenders as a standard, so each guy had to develop individually-unique ways to score on guys - no one played like bird, mcadoo, magic, parish, etc.. this was the purest form of the game, whereas today's game has a bunch of robots that all play similar because the wide open spacing creates the most basic shot allocation possible (threes/layups).. the only guys that play kinda different are the guys that go 1-on-1 a lot, like harden... jokic looks a little different too
