The 70s, 90s, and 2010s are pretty much absolute.

Kareem wasn't very successful in the 70s and that was in the lesser league. Dr. J was the best player in the best league and had a bigger positive impact on the game. Kareem's career was better if you include the 80s. But Kareem is still overrated career wise by most people.

And yes, Bird was better than Magic. Pretty universally accepted. He was also a better and greater player than LeBron. In the 2000s, yes Duncan was better than Kobe, but Shaq, even though he faded off by the end, was clearly the best player of the decade on the whole.

You'd have to at least mention Duncan and perhaps even Shaq....two players that were either clearly better than Kobe or just as good...for large stretches of the decade.

The 10 years in question are 00-09

I think most non Kobe fans would take Duncan over Kobe from 00 through 07...I certainly would. Being as good or better than someone for 8 out of 10 years...needs a mention on the best player of the decade thing.

00's were tough...because outside of early 00's Shaq/Duncan...nobody really separated themselves much after that with Kobe/Dirk/KG/Wade...might be forgetting someone...Lebron didn't get that good until 09...

But Dirk/KG, for example, really was more the teams they had than their level of play/impact.

I'd rank the decade something like;
