The majority of the people who celebrate Christmas probably aren't even practicing Christians. Just go with the flow and be merry, too many people try too hard to find ways to be miserable and grumpy.

They should accept Jesus Christ as their savior.

God bless.

Sounds like that's your problem. You live in America. Christmas is celebrated in America.

Don't you Muslims consider Jesus to be a prophet? I know Muslims don't believe Jesus was God or son of God so that's the primary difference, but still being a prophet must mean something to Muslims. As we know, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

I do question whether Jesus even existed, and I do wonder how much of his story was plagiarized from other cultures & religions. But that's a separate argument for another day. I respect people's rights to believe whatever they want (except certain crazy stuff like Scientology that actually hurts/brainwashes people) even if I disagree.

I mostly go separate ways when it comes to evidence. In absence of evidence, there are certainly other ways to verify it (i.e. God(s) comes down himself to tell us all about him, which typically is an idea that irritates religious people). I suspect that would never happen since I suspect it's a figment of our imagination. We humans like to tell stories and mix in some imagination to brighten up those stories.

Regardless, merry Christmas. Not because I am a Christian (which I obviously am not) but because I respect the rights of others to believe what they want, even if it's a figment of their imagination.

This is way too much cringey, community college philosophy that weve all heard a million times before.

We dont think youre an intellectual. You are not an intellectual.

Either say Merry Christmas or just go to another thread.

Actually, it was this:

Yes but when Christianity was spreading throughout Europe the Church decided to move the nativity celebration to coincide with the different winter solstice festivities that the pagan populations were already observing. Then they incorporated many of the traditions that were already being observed.

Pretty smart move imo. Much better than the way Islam was spread: convert or die, smh.

So what is everyone doing today? I'm the only one up atm. Getting all my shit together for the feast later this afternoon. Got a standing rib roast from the local butcher (prime dry aged). I serve it medium rare with au jus and a horse radish sauce on the side. Gonna make potatoes au gratin and a Brussels sprouts salad that was such a hit at Thanksgiving it's making an encore. Fetching a couple bottles of Mt. Veeder cab from the cellar and finishing everything off with some homemade creme br

One birthday present that would be great.... If the millennial generation died off.

That would make my Christmas Merry.

Yearly reminder that the Christians co-opted the Roman Pagan holiday of Saturnalia to celebrate the birth of Christ, who was probably born in the Spring.

Happy faux birthday Jesus!

"Millennials, also known as Generation Y (or simply Gen Y), are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years, with 1981 to 1996 a widely accepted definition." :lol
