This is only true in the sense that Big Media gave viability to Trump’s campaign early on, with endless coverage of his controversial statements etc. Most of this actually came from left wing media trying to attract left wing viewers.

The people who actually voted for Trump did so because of his unapologetic positions on border security and trade etc, which establishment players never, ever get tough on. Trump’s unrehearsed, un-PC takes on ISSUES is what drove conservatives to the polls.

In general though it’s astonishing how many ordinary people simply judge a President by how “presidential” his personality is. A guy can get in the office and do whatever he wants, as long as all the simpletons across the land think he “seems presidential.” People like -primetime- and so on.
