You are asking a poorly formed question as most people do here. Do you mean most talented or greatest? Those are massively different questions.

People not mentioning Oscar Robertson are being absurdly disrespectful and just plain ignorant.

1. Magic Johnson
2. Oscar Robertson
3. Steph Curry (He can pass Oscar with more longevity)
4. Chris Paul
5. John Stockton

After the top 4 I have a harder time. I think John Stockton has a great case though so I’ll put him there.

Big O gets love for how good he was for his era but I'd find it hard to put him in the top 5 based on just some RS averages...CP0 might be in the same boat but he deserves to be top 5 based on his overall ability on both ends of the court, one of the last few true point guards.

Glad you mentioned the big "O". He still has a case over Magic IMO. Why? Oscar was a very good defensive player and Magic was not. Oscar for his first 5 years averaged a triple double - and was putting in 30 points a game and this was without a 3 point line. We he retired he was seen as the greatest basketball player that had ever lived. He did not get the accolades players get today because it was not a guard oriented league. How good was Oscar-- per John Havlicek "Oscar had no weaknesses as a basketball player, he was the best I ever played against". Per Jerry West - "Oscar was much better than I was when we came into the league. It took me several years before I was able to be at a competitive level with him". He doesn't have the rings and MVP's but he was better than anyone he played against.
Totally agree. Big O wasn't pushed much by the league either. The NBA had shit marketing compared to the ABA back then. He was also too political. Made him a bit taboo. Throw in that he didn't win much and it was easy for the league to bury his legacy but he is absolutely one of the all time greats. And it certainly is a valid debate that he was as good or better than Magic. But Magic was the NBA's golden boy. It was post merger and he was the perfect star to be marketed. Played a fun fast paced team style. And because of this the comparison of Big O vs Magic is seen as blasphemous by some.

The fact that over half the people in here posted didn't include Robertson in their Top 5 is atrocious. Even if you don't think he should be in the Top 5 it's atrocious, but I bet most people simply forgot about him.

99% of people here dont know anything about big O.

There's a millions docs and articles on everything 80s forward, but going back past that too much you dont get the same amount.

from what little ive gathered, Big O seemed to be a monopolizer in the flow type.

it is curious how he won so little despite being this GOAT. (and he had help played with ****ing kareem)

vs best point guards of all-time.

Two lists, maybe.

Kblaze doesnt know shit about oscar and neither do you or I. He was probably like 2 years old when big O won his first chip in a no media era.

he may very well be top 5, but basically nobody that posts on this site saw him play. So its hard to judge him.

Hard to do now that Curry has climbed and is climbing. And I love him.

I'll just say Magic shouldn't be on the list. My list is him making my list without him on the list, because he's that good and I want room to name other people.

Anyway. Magic. Then there's Oscar, Isiah, Stockton, Kidd, Nash, Curry.

The order is chronological, with absolute need to mention Gary Payton, Walt Frazier, then Cousy (not sure that's in order anymore).

I’m gonna plant the Isiah overrated-as-**** flag at Chris Paul. Since he is demonstrably better just by watching.

Isiah can be close to you guys’ hearts and always top 5 forever and ever .

But in no way was he better than Chris Paul in any facet of basketball. Current old man OKC Paul who is moving at 85% speed is as good as peak Isiah, if not better.

I agree but you will catch hell for this.

"Isiah was way more of a leader than Paul.....he sacrificed shots (did he miss on purpose?) for the benefit of the team" ....yada yada yada.

I will say that Paul has been pretty injury prone which hurts his value but healthy i would easily take him over IT.

warriorfan

Oscar today would be like a less explosive but smarter Westbrook with a better jump shot. He would be a matchup problem for a lot of point guards especially in the post. 27/8/7/1/1 59% TS Could be a stat line I see him having.

His name doesn't seem to ring a bell for them.

Curry would have been easily an SG if only he was more taller.

Goodness, I forgot Chris Paul lol. All I can say is that he's there. We're at the point where Bob Cousy is not in the top 10. Which is tough and terrible to say.

But a top has to have Magic, Oscar, Isiah, Stockton, Kidd, Nash, Paul, Curry, Payton, Frazier. I guess the last two are the most vulnerable to him.

Jason Kidd was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally good.
