Who would you rather have to start a new franchise with?
Who peaked higher?
Who had the better career?

Where do you rank them all time?

This thread is intended to separate the people that don't know basketball from those who do. Choose carefully.

SHAQ. The most dominant post player ever is a better choice than an excellent shooting guard that goes on chucking sprees.
SHAQ's Peak was better.
SHAQ

Shaq is between 4 - 6 all time behind KAJ, MJ, LBJ

Kobe is 11-14

Rookie Kobe probably, 20 years one franchise, Shaq had a lot of drama and team hops...even though Orlando got cheap and LA did get toxic, however much of a part of that he contributed to will always be debated, he isn

Saying shaq is better than kobe is like saying wilt is better than jordan. But were the low IQs tho. LOL when majority of players have kobe.

It's literally nothing like saying that, dipshit. Wilt and Jordan are from two completely different eras. Shaq and Kobe played with each other.

The funny thing is I know he thinks LeBron and Shaq>Kobe, so I’m not even sure what he’s trying to argue. LeBron getting GOAT talk after 2016 really hurt MJ stans.

Do we know how their careers turn out when choosing? If not, obviously you start a franchise with Shaq because he was light years ahead of Kobe as a rookie.

If you know how their careers pan out, it's closer than you probably think but Shaq was an athletic freak of nature that doesn't come around often. Can't pass that up, especially with how NBA ready he was as a rookie.

Shaq had the better peak.

Their careers were a wash.

I rank Shaq 7-8, Kobe 10.

If you don't know how their career pans out you take Shaq. Even with the league being perimeter oriented you still take the potential dominant big in hopes that he will have a very long, very productive career as a two way big who can improve his jumper and playmaking over time. Now we know that wasn't quite Shaq but at 20 who know what more he could have added to his overall game.

But knowing what we got (with roughly 20 years for both) you take Kobe, far more likely to have a longer prime, less holes in his overall game to cover up than Shaq, and frankly with how perimeter oriented today's NBA is I have less doubts about a dominant wing in a big oriented era translating than a dominant big in big man era - we saw the disaster when he played in a "modern" offense with the Suns, past his prime or not that was NEVER his game and unfortunately that's the game everyone plays right now.

I would draft Shaq over anybody

FultzNationRISE

If you already have a DOMINANT front court and a deep bench and GOAT coach, then I think it's probably a toss up.

Otherwise you take Shaq.

I'll take Shaq if he's bundled with some Big Toe insurance coverage. Otherwise, I gotta say I'm a bit tempted to take the more loyal and hard working candidate who didn't mumble in his interview.
