Your Chili preference, beans or no beans?

Too me, if there's no beans in the Chili, then it's not Chili. It's just a hot dog topping or a sloppy joe with Chili seasoning.

It has to be kidney beans, no pork beans.

It depends. I make a chili con carne that is just beef and pork with no beans. If you're only using ground beef then you kinda need some beans to thicken it up a bit.
