Kawhi will never win a regular season MVP. Hes just not that type of player in the regular season

best chance was 2017

Team's record is not as good as it should be and he's only gonna end up playing like 60 games, so no.

If he’s truly suffering knee tendonosis, he’ll always miss too many games to win it by historical trends. The closest modern-day frame of reference is Harden’s MVP season, where he missed ten games; that might have even militated against his case if any of his competitors had plausible arguments (at least by the traditional criteria).

You can keep your candidacy intact if you miss just 5-10 games—or even improve it if your team starkly struggles without you, which would accentuate your impact—but it’s a lose-lose narrative beyond that: either you harm your team for too long on the sidelines, or your team proves they can stay afloat without you for a stretch. One of those two trends will always devalue Kawhi’s case, who I don’t expect to ever have another full-bore regular season.

It’s lamentable for Kawhi, because he’s talented enough to become a top-fifteen ATG; he just probably won’t have the legacy of one because of the glass ceiling for MVP-less players and his inextensive longevity. But if the load management lengthens his prime, I’m all for it—as other ATG-appreciators should be, too.

Best player in the league don't need no damn media MVP's. What Kawhi needs to do is close the decade with his 3rd ring and throw into contention whether Lebron or him can claim the decade as his.

Up for grabs in my view.

Nope, he won't.
But he will win the Finals MVP though

The way hes playing in regular season, its near guaranteed that hes not going to win a MVP ever.

Extremely slim chance.

Why would he get MVP ? He hasn't been the best player, he has missed a lot of games, and his team's record is not very impressive.

Giannis is the clear frontrunner at the moment, and Kawhi is not top 3.

hell no. he'll never get an MVP. you cant give an MVP to the guy who invented load management.

Media isn't going to give him MVP votes due to load management. He's improved as a player this season and his team's struggled without him, but Giannis is having a historic season. Bucks would have to completely melt down and Kawhi would have to play like 90% of the remaining games at the highest level & get the #1 seed, which isn't happening.

Depends on what kind of planning he does. What kind of team he assembles. And all within this year? I dunno. I don't see it happening. Lebron's house is just too tough to break into.

Sure, why not? They are going to give mvp for a guy who sits out 20+ games a season and his team is the 3rd seed. Great thread, OP. :facepalm

He's incapable, hence not an all time great like Curry or Kobe

I see Leonard out of the league in 2-3 years.... unless he only plays in the playoff's ..... but the NBA won't allow it..
