Why are there great white american athletes in everything but basketball?

I know some people are gonna say athleticism but the nfl has the best athletes out of any sport and theres plenty of white Americans ballin.

Some people are gonna say reverse racism but again football is mostly black and white guys still mske out just fine.

Maybe all of the better white athletes are choosing football now for some reason idk.

Things change and evolve over time obviously. Sometimes theyre temporary trends, sometimes theyre significant shifts.

For instance MJ played against plenty of white american auto mechanics and grocery baggers in the 90s.

His athletic ability drew huge audiences, so the league wanted more of the same and adjusted the NBA rules to suit an athletic style of play. They began drafting “athaletes” like Michael Olawakandi and Darius Miles etc at the top of the draft. This has an impact on the youth game and how kids are scouted at early ages in America.

Meanwhile in Europe theyre playing with FIBA rules, where players develop a different skill set early on and by the time theyre done they can actually compete, since they werent standing around the court during their formative playing years watching LeQuandriezey Jackson go 1-on-1 all game. Im not even tryin to be offensive, this is a real difference :confusedshrug:

The other thing nobody mentions is that the population of Europe is double the population of America, and whites are like 95% of Europe and 65% of the US. It makes statistical sense more white players would come from Europe.

How is it a racism thread? Its a legit question. Its not like i said why do blacks dominate all sports or something. I said in the op that theyre great white anerican athletes in other sports. Shit baseball and football are usually or at least equally dominated by white athletes. So why not basketball?

Sports over time in the US become cultural. In the case of white American hoopers, the pool of guys WHO COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT got much smaller. Because a lot of those guys went on to focus on other sports. They LOVED TO HOOP! But thought their best shot to go the farthest was in other sports.

Because the dunks, fancy dimes, and handles become marketed SO HEAVILY by Stern's new age NBA. Then in the late 90' and early 2000's, the streets really influenced the NBA. Though rap music and the And 1 shit. So with ALL THESE FACTORS, I'm sure many white hoopers WHO WERE COLD thought they couldn't have anymore.

Some may have even been intimidated flat out. Hell some of the parents even were the ones who pushed there kids into a different sports direction. And let's face it, there's always going to be racial overtones in the US in general on top of it. So the pool of those players shrank up.

The White Europeans were looking on from afar. So they didn't let those factors affect their ambitions. PLUS basketball is more loved over there than baseball and football. So once again, its more of cultural thing with many factors.
