Was watching Forensic Files on the case of Peter Porco

Son takes a fire axe to his dad's face 16 times. Then to his mom 3 times. They both look dead so he leaves. Neither were dead though. Dad gets up in the morning with his brain leaking out and his lower jaw completely severed, puts on a shirt, goes to the bathroom uses the toilet and shaves. Then goes into the kitchen puts the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Goes to the refrigerator and makes his lunch. Then heads outside to grab the paper. Accidentally locks himself out and retrieves spare key from flower pot and opens door. Then goes to kitchen table and opens mail including a parking ticket his son got and writes out a check for the full amount. Gets up and and starts walking again only to finally succumb to blood loss.

They go into a little more detail in FF

They could tell exactly what he was doing by following the massive blood trail of the father. The upper portion of his brain is destroyed and his jaw is gone but he's walking around like a typical morning. :biggums:

Imagine if he didn't have a spare key, he might have walked to the neighbors for help. Good gawd if you opened the door and saw him like that.

A few other interesting things about this case his mom was completely disfigured with her jaw partially detached and one eye destroyed but nodded to the police officer in the ambulance when asked if her son did this. But after surgery she said she didn't remember anything and to this day has stood by her son claiming his innocence even after he was convicted of murder. The guy's uncle was also a mob figure in jail named the "The Fireman", so they briefly considered the murderer might be a revenge killing by the mafia with fire axe left as a message.

:confusedshrug:

How was he planning to eat his lunch with no jaw?

I don't remember exactly what was on the FF episode but I believe it said the parietal lobes on his brain were destroyed which destroyed reaction to pain and self awareness, and at the same time sent the rest of the brain on a kind of autopilot.

Love your children fiercely, but also give them the belt at an early age so they learn that respect quickly. Otherwise, you may get an axe to the face when they're old enough to wield one.

What was the motive? Like why did he do what he did?

2 million dollar life insurance policy. Deeply in debt. Suspended by college and afraid Dad would cut him off.

I remember that. The dad's muscle memory reminded him to get the newspaper in the middle of the night. Very weird.
