.
The GOAT can never:
1) lose as the favorite
2) get completely locked down in a playoff series
3) choke when expected to win
4) get carried/outscored by teammate in numerous different series
5) build entire resume after team-hopping
6) create a "not 6, not 7" team that has unfair advantage on the league... and then only go 2/4
7) be a weak shooter - i.e. doesn't have a "blow the game open" jumpshot that constant requires adjustments/double-teams.. can't attract doubles
8) have horrible stats in many (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=466613) series (26 or less on poor efficiency), and many (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=465021) other "black marks" on his career

agreed
must compete against the best.. i.e. defeat the at-the-time-goat to win first ring like MJ did in 91'

no performance enhancement drugs. (viagra is fine)
dominant number of scoring titles, assist titles or rebounding titles, etc. showing a dominance at the craft in a certain skill

Magic 's team had plenty of injuries. MJ beat team's with one star most of the years he won a title. LEBRON beat a team with three MVPS all playing at a high level. He beat the top team ever .. He then beat DUNCAN with KAWHI .. BTW he hit a clutch game winning jumper in KAWHI's face after Duncan choked on a chippy
MJ never beat a team close to any of those teams.
superduper

You retards can call scoring when already being up "game winners" all you want but you can only twist the reality of it in your own heads.

1) Pippen averaged 15 on 34% in the 1996 Finals - Payton, Kemp, or Schrempf were all much better (take your pick)
2) Worthy averaged 19 on 48% in the 91' Finals, which equaled his regular season averages and led the Lakers... so he was good despite being hobbled and was also all-nba that year (Pippen wasn't even an all-star)
3) Penny was considered better in 1996 and Stockton is ranked higher all-time
The only big series where Pippen was clearly the best 2nd option was the 1992 Finals... :confusedshrug:.. (and the blazers had 4 all-star players and had better options from the 3 thru 12 spots)

Imagine a league where the best is a team lead by a guy suffering from AIDS. Holy shit:roll:

they didn't call it "goat" back then, but he was considered the best ever by many
only when MJ achieved a body of work that was clearly superior (3-peat), did people officially put him over bird/magic
